A quick problem

Hi guys, I've been trying to get a Shiny Honedge with the Masuda Method for about 5 days straight now and I've had nothing. I gave up today and took my 5IV Honedge out at level 67 to use in my time instead of a shiny one. I used two rare candies to evolve it and it didnt work. Does anyone know why. Do I have a defective honedge that doesnt evolve and doesnt give shinies in eggs xD
