[DISCUSSION] Where do Pokemon on Pokemon Bank get stored?

Do they get stored on your 3DS? Or on your Nintendo Account?

I belive on your nintendo account since the point of poke bank is to protect all of you pokemon. And if your 3ds broke you would lose all your mons. So if you can get your account on another 3ds, download pokebank you should have all your pokemon.
