How to breed properly

Alright, I'm kinda new to breeding so all I've heard of is the masuda method for shinies.
I'm wondering how I can get the proper nature and IV spread quickly. (mainly 5 IVs)
Should I get a 6IV ditto with the right nature, give that an everstone and breed it with a 5 IV pokemon I want?

Also if I don't have a ditto with the right nature, should I just use one with a different nature (since it's 6IV) holding a destiny knot and just hope for the right nature?
