[ORAS] Kalos-Born Pokémon

Why do people care whether a Pokémon is Kalos-Born or not? Is there something special about them other than a little pentagonal symbol?

they are the only Pokemon that can be legally used in the official ranked matches for Pokemon asuming they also meet the pokedex, item and species restrictions
