Problem:
In my hunt for perfection I came across the problem of guaranteeing high iv Pokémon for use in masuda breeding. Before I purchased a foreign setup I figured I'd try other means. After much research I've found that masuda method seems to be based on language and not region as they are considered the same on almost all sources. And with sun and moon adding new language options I thought to change the language and test.
Test:
I reset a copy of moon and entered into French (language) (US 3DS / US game).
I caught a Pokémon and posted it on the gts.
When i check this trade on my English copy it has the FRE stamp in the trade window.
Questions/hypothesis:
1.) will this Pokémon work for breeding in masuda method
2.) if not how do we know that any "foreign" Pokémon we get in GTS isn't just some guy playing in another language down the street?
From this I'm lead to believe simply changing a pokemons caught language will render it useful for masuda breeding.
