First shiny ever encountered was that red Gyarados from Silver.
First random shiny, Spinda. In a horde. Shoot eh? Encoutered 3 more afterwards.

Well, technically it was my second shiny since I did randomly find one right at the beginning of XY (which I only started earlier this year), but it was my first in ORAS. And the randomness hasn't stopped. I caught that silly Machop I wanted, bred it, and was leveling the 5IV version earlier today. I was punching Audinos into a bloody pulp on a mirage mountain when a shiny Happiny randomly appeared. Fortunately I was paying attention and saw the sparkle, because that one is just as plain looking as the Togepi.
