HELP!! T_T - devilmoth - Aug 29, 2016

I know NOTHING about IVs/EVs, competitive play, breeding, Pokerus or ANYTHING!!! *temper tantrum*

Okay, now to act my age.

I've been trying to do some breeding to TRY to get into competitive play. My problem is, I really don't understand Natures and Abilities, IVs and EVs.. and barely understand what types are strong against others. Honestly, I'm the biggest Pokemon noob EVER and I've been playing since Pokemon Gold.

I really don't know how to put this other than... Somebody, please teach me how to Pokemon correctly? Sad  I know very little besides the main game and shiny hunting.

Any useful links or videos would be great. Reading gives me a headache.. no articles please Sad

Start off by learning what nature is beneficial to the pokemon you want to breed. http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Nature This should help! (I.e. A Garchomp is commonly used as a physical attacker, so a nature that would boost attack would be good, with Adamant being the best choice)

Hidden abilities can only be passed down through breeding IF the pokemon you're breeding already has its Hidden ability, you can catch those through the DexNav, or just trade around and ask!

Destiny Knot and Everstone are essential to breeding, the Destiny Knot passes down most of the IVs to the egg pokemon, and the Everstone passes down the nature to the Pokémon! Let's say you're breeding a Ralts. If you have a 6IV ditto (check the giveaways forum) you make it hold your Destiny Knot, and you give the Gardevoir an Everstone if it has a nature that benefits it, like Modest or Timid.

EV training is much easier in this game because of horde encounters. To EV train a pokemon, it's best to infect the pokemon you're training with Pokerus, then head to one of the routes described on the link and start training!

To find good builds for Pokemon, I'd recommend Smogon! Here's an example on a build for Rotom, but of course you can always switch it up yourself! I personally use special attacking Rotoms, so just keep your mind open to all sorts of builds! http://www.smogon.com/dex/xy/pokemon/rotom-wash/
