Sun and Moon is here, and with that new pokemon, and a new meta game. Today i will be looking at the pokemon that embodies "Strength in numbers" - Wishiwashi. This pokemon is insanely powerful, having 140 Attack and Special Attack, 130 Defense, and 135 Special Defense, the only problem is, one it's health gets past 25%, he becomes a frail tiny little single pokemon. Being able to maximize his time in "School form" is a major part of Wishiwashi's style, lets see if I can make him work. P.S. Please keep in mind, VGC17 is in its earliest stages, so these sets are just for everyone to get a grasp on competitive until the metagame starts to settle out, after that we will go back to these sets and make the proper changes. Type: Water Base Stats:
Resistances: Fire (X0.5), Water (X0.5), Ice (X0.5), Steel (X0.5) Abilities: Schooling - Changes the Pokémon's form when it is Level 20 and has more than 25% Hit Points. When Hit Points drop below 25%, it changes back to Solo Form Special Attacker Wishiwashi @ Leftovers Ability: Schooling Shiny: Yes EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Protect - Ice Beam / Scald / Hydro Pump - Muddy Water / Aqua Ring / Swagger - Scald / Endeavor / Hydro Pump Wishiwashi is a crazy strong pokemon, but suffers from its schooling ability, so the most essential part of this set is the leftovers, allowing Wishiwashi to regain some HP bring the battle, keeping it over the 25% health mark, and potentially bringing it back over the 25%, activating School form once again. Protect is nessesary to obviously protect yourself from an attack that would be detrimental, and keeping Wishiwashi over the 25% health mark for another turn. Another move depending on Wishiwashi's HP is Endeavor, in troubling times when Wishiwashi's health is low, using Endeavor allows you to bring you're opponents health down to equal yours. Honorable mention goes to Aqua Ring, this will allow Wishiwashi to restore more health faster over each turn. Swagger is another move that could be good for using while out of school form, potentially give you enough time to return back to School Form . Attacking moves wise, Wishiwashi doesnt have the best movepool. Scald is the normal go to water type move, allowing you to burn you foes, it has a 76% change to 2HKO Nihilego (Ultra Beast with 131 SpD), and this is using a Nihilego with 4Hp, 252 SpD, and a nature benefiting SpD. Most of the other Ultra best have very low special attack and will be killed in at least 2 hits. For a potential OHKO on Ultra beast an other opponents, Hydro pump is another option, though the accuarcy could be a problem. Other attacking moves we have are Muddy water, which has the ability to attack both opponents and lower their accuarcy, just becareful for Wide Guard, which UB Celesteela and Guzzlord can learn, aswell as Ice beam for a better type coverage. Damage Calculations: Offensive Defensive Physical Attacker Wishiwashi-School @ Sitrus Berry Ability: Schooling Level: 50 EVs: 244 HP / 252 Atk / 12 SpD Adamant Nature - Waterfall - Earthquake - Protect - Swagger / U-Turn / Scald / Facade Wishiwashi has the same Attack and Special Attack stat, so it has potential for both variations. Wishiwashi's best physcial moves are Waterfall and Earthquake, keep in mind that Earthquake will hit allies. Most attacks from these two moves will 2HKO the Ultra beast, Kartana, Celesteela, and Guzzlord will take around 3. For a little more damage in certain situations, Facade could be better. For a couple moves to be used in sticky situation such as out of school form, first we have Swagger, which can confuse opponents potentially giving you a chance to escape or get back to School form. U-Turn will allow you to escape, but will be difficult to use because of Wishiwashi's terrible speed. Protect again allows you to block attacks. And finally it wont do as much damage but scald can be good against pokemon with low special defense, and for a chance to burn. As said before the metagame is in it early phases, so alot will change in the coming months, when that happens either this thread will be updated for a new will come in its place. Wishiwashi is a pokemon with alot of power, and i can see it being paired with many pokemon to increase it utility, we'll just have to see what the future brings us. If you have any suggested sets or ev spreads that could be helpful, feel free to post them in the replys. RE: Wishiwashi Moveset - Special/Physical Attacker (Leftovers) - croissant - Nov 23, 2016 Great moveset @ChaseInfinity! Simple, but efficient. To go back to the schooling form, though, I would suggest rest since when you go back to full and you can then go back into the threatening form. |
