I haven't even beaten Kiawe's trial yet in Ultra Moon and randomly came across this little guy in the grass 
To make matters even better he has a careful nature which can be used to build a specially defensive set

I think they super increased shiny rates, all I've seen since day 1 is people getting shinies in the first hour of playing
AND I CAN STILL CAN'T HATCH 1 GOSH DARN SHINY MAGIKARP

I wont spoil what the method is but apparantly there is a method that gives rediculous shiny odds in the game, I haven't heard of the wild encounters odds changing but I still consider this lucky
