Newcomer into Gen 7 - Whispérr - Jul 24, 2018 So, I just bought a copy of Pokemon Ultra Moon and I wanted to know if there's anything important that I should know before going in too deep into the game. (Pokemon I can keep to shiny hunt, things to help me in the game, any tip would be helpful ^^, got to the 2nd island so far ) RE: Newcomer into Gen 7 - TheAlmightySancho - Jul 24, 2018 Gen 7 has become my favourite gen by far. SOS battles are the best way to shiny hunt in my opinion, but don't give the best overall odds. In terms of things to keep, Trevenant and Exeggutor are regarded as being good for shiny hunting although I prefer my Absol. RE: Newcomer into Gen 7 - Tenebris_Kane - Jul 24, 2018 @Whispérr Welcome to Gen 7! All of the legendaries in the main game are shiny locked but when you get to the stage you can encounter the 'wormholes' (trying not to spoil much here) There are cool Pokémon you can actually shiny hunt if you want so it is up to you on that one. Most of the things I can think of you can shiny hunt are end game / late game so I am not sure how much to say without spoilers but you should be fine for the most part up until you get past the fourth island I don't know what kind of trainer you are (i.e if you enjoy competitive battling, breeding Pokémon, shiny hunting etc) but if there is anything you need feel free to ask on the forums and I am sure either myself or another member here will be happy to help. I specialise in Pokémon breeding so feel free to ask me anything in that regard asn I will be happy to help you further RE: Newcomer into Gen 7 - DoomBlade - Jul 24, 2018 kinda a wierd tip, catch a zorua if you can, or another strong dark type, in my first run necrozma was a pain in the *** but next time when i had zoroark lv 60 it was a piece of cake RE: Newcomer into Gen 7 - 0kamii - Jul 24, 2018 @Whispérr Hey, Whisp, and welcome! Tips for gen 7? Oi, so many. But I suppose the penny of wisdom I'll cast into this fountain is that many Alola pokémon are quite slow, sporting Speed stats of 70 or under. So you'd do well to arm yourself with speedy mons like Salazzle, Comfey, Jolteon, Crobat, Aerodactyl (from the lady in Seafolk Village), Gengar, Talonflame, and maybe even Ribombee for some of the more difficult battles of the game. Never hurts to move first. Strike hard, strike fast. There are others, but I trust you can find them on your own. And again, welcome! - 0kamii RE: Newcomer into Gen 7 - Whispérr - Jul 25, 2018 Thank you for the tips! I appreciate it. @Tenebris_Kane I know about the wormholes, I got a lot of spoiling for this game before, but at least the plot of the game hasn't been spoiled and that's good! @0kamii Yeah, I kinda saw that too, pokemon seemed slower to me too. @DoomBlade I'll keep that in mind! @TheAlmightySancho Absol is a favourite of mine too. RE: Newcomer into Gen 7 - Vectorshot - Jul 25, 2018 Not sure if it's a tip or not, but enjoy the game. It's still pokemon, but it feels totally different to me as a game. I've been playing since Red and Blue came on in 1998. I've had a bit of difficulty getting into the story for Sun and Moon. Maybe it's the lack of gyms, or something else entirely, but I just get bored of it really quickly. Which is sad, because this gen has some of the coolest pokemon so far. I mean an archer owl who is ghost and grass type? That's just plain amazing. RE: Newcomer into Gen 7 - dmann - Jul 25, 2018 If you want help on SOS hunting (the general way to find shinies in Gen 7), I have a rather complete guide on it, in the guides section. I also give out SOS ready Infinite Chaining Trevenant. RE: Newcomer into Gen 7 - Whispérr - Jul 27, 2018 @Vectorshot Hell yeah, that pokemon is legit, probably one my favourite starter pokemon so far, tho I don't know how to pronounce its name Also, the game left me a good taste so far, the lack of gyms made it harder for me to understand, although trials seems like a challenging mechanic so far. @dmann I'll make sure to look through that guide, I'm curious how to SOS hunt. Thanks!
