Is GTS serious?

I'm honestly kind of curious if the people on GTS are serious when they ask for event Pokemon for stuff like paras or other common Pokemon.

I mean I'm just looking to fill out my dex for Y and am a little out of luck since some legendary Pokemon are almost impossible to get since I need hoopa or darkari for them

In  x and y people where asking for un-obtainable pokemon (like feebas at launch of the game (before pokebank)) in exchange for shiny mews. Seems kinda rare nowadays to see a legit trade offer which is weird but funny at the same time.

I like to think that there were legit offers at the beginning of DP when it was new. I did a few trades on there for the hell of it but it was kinda sweet. Mostly the idea of getting a pokemon from China or somewhere far away.
