Weird finish to a Mario Kart 8 online Race

So, I was playing online in Mario Kart 8 last night and noticed someone was lagging, but didn't realise how bad they where lagging til the very end of the race when this happened

Love the HQ picture. Anyways the lag makes it appear that for you they are far back and just tripping out when actually on their side and on the server they are possibly leading and doing well in the race. This is why people need better internet connections.

I know why it happened, just not seen it this badly before, people always lag online, just never given them a place they hadn't appeared in xD

I've got a HD PVR that I use to record my console footage, so any image i post will always be HQ :D
