[DISCUSSION] Huge Power or Sap Sipper for Azumarill?
#1
I'm going to try to breed a shiny Marill one of these days because the green is cute as hell. Also, the golden Azumarill just looks boss.

I can't decide which ability to go for though, they both have their merits.

Huge Power doubles its Attack stat, which would come in handy for strong, physical moves like Superpower, Play Rough, Double Edge, and Aqua Tail that Azumarill learns. Even though its Sp. Attack is typically a bit higher than its Attack, they are close enough that I could have a good moveset on it with physical moves, so Huge Power could come in handy.

But on the other hand, Sap Sipper also would be helpful. Not only does it raise Attack a stage when hit by a grass move, but, if I'm understanding correctly, it completely eliminates a weakness (grass-type) from Azumarill, because they won't do any damage with Sap Sipper on.

I can see the merits of both abilities, and I don't think it likely that I get a quick Masuda Method shiny for either ability, so going for both seems a little too daunting for my first ever MM task.

What do you all think? I'm curious to hear other's opinions, so please let me know!  Heart

Even though sap sipper eliminates grass as a weakness, I have faced a lot of people who only use electric types or poison type moves from experience. (I barely encounter anyone who actually has a grass type on their team.)

Huge power in the other hand doubles Azumarils attack so  so Aqua jet, a priority move, will be dealing much more damage + STAB.

Go for Huge Power, Sap Sipper might seem like a good option but Huge Power is much more useful.

The most commmon grass moves are special and the mons that use physical grass moves are normally bulky, like chesnaught of ferrothorn, so using Azu against them isnt the best option, for the special moves you can use an Assault Vest wih your Azu and take the hits better (same with most electric moves) and still deal nice damage because of Huge Power. Besides, electric is a much more common threat than grass, so Sap Sipper won't be as useful in the long run.
