Gastly Breeding

I'm attempting to breed myself a decent Gengar and as a ghost type are attack/def stats useful? I ask because i have 2 gastly with 5iv one missing att and one missing def as BEST. Do I even want to worry about either of those for breeding?

For a Gengar, you should get 31/x/31/31/31/31. For the ATK, as low as possible to reduce damage from confusion or Foul Play.
