Try Clannad if you want to laugh at the beginning and hold yourself crying at the end.

From the "Must Watch Anime in 2016" lists I've read, Here are the top three:

1) Re:Zero - It's about a teenage boy who was summoned in a fantasy world. If you like Sword Art Online, this is a must watch for you!

2) Kabaneri of The Iron Fortress - Think of Attack On Titan but instead of giants you get zombies. 

3) My Hero Academia - This one's the most common pick for this year. It's about a powerless boy whose dream is to become a superhero.

My personal recommendation is Noragami and Noragami Aragoto for the feels. Seriously, watch this for the feeeeeeels.
