[DISCUSSION] Ultra Sun & Moon Legendary Portals (can you leave the portal?)

I was just messing around by going into the wormhole and I found a legendary in accident. I was planning to shiny hunt for them post-game but now I'm worried that if I leave I lose the legendary for good. If anyone can tell me what happens if I leave I would really appreciate it. Its a Reshiram btw that I found and don't wanna shiny hunt for it now until I'm prepared.

If you run from the legendary, you can re-encounter them. If you catch them, you can't run into them again
