Type: Bug/Electric
Weaknesses: Rock and Fire (X2)
Resistances: Steel, Grass, Fighting, Electric (X0,5) and Ground (X0) (because of Levitate)


Abilities:

Levitate: Damage dealing Ground-type moves have no effect on this Pokémon. Cannot be trapped by Arena Trap ability. Takes no damage from Spikes.



Base stats: 77 HP / 70 Attack / 90 Defense / 145 Special Attack / 75 Special Defense / 43 Speed


To be honest, when I saw Vikavolt's stats for the first time, I was very disappointed. They gave it incredible Special Attack, and then subpar HP, Attack, Defense and Special Defense, not to mention that its Speed is downright thrash. I really thought that this Pokémon would be really bad, and probably unviable in OU. However, it actually has a decent niche as an Agility sweeper, and it has the potential to be very effective. This set is Vikavolt's only solid niche in OU, because of its horrible defenses and Speed. Luckily, it has access to Agility, which is so much useful since it allows it to outspeed a surprising amount of threats in the OU metagame, such as Tapu Koko, and it is also very strong: nothing appreciates to take STAB Thunderbolts from that 145 Special Attack stat. Bug/Electric is a very strong offensive typing, and only a few Pokémon can resist its STAB combination along with one of its coverage moves. Thunderbolt and Bug Buzz are its strongest STAB moves, dealing massive damage to neutral targets and scoring KOs on most super effective hits. For the last slot, either Energy Ball or Hidden Power Ice can be used; Energy Ball hits ground types for super effective damage and is stronger , but HP Ice can help against the likes of Garchomp. Roost is also an option to keep Vikavolt healthy, since it will have to take Life Orb recoil and also hazards damage. Max Speed investment with a Timid nature is pretty much mandatory as you want to outspeed as much things as possible, but it can be EV'd differently to outspeed specific Pokémon (for example, you can go for Timid/232 EVs to outspeed non-scarfed Tapu Koko), and max Special Attack allows it to be as powerful as possible. Vikavolt is pretty frail, and it can have a hard time finding an opportunity to set up Agility because of that, so try to set-up on defensive Pokémon that can't really damage you or that you can OHKO/deal heavy damage to, such as Toxapex, as they will be likely to switch out to preserve their Pokémon, giving you a free Agility. Vikavolt can also potentially set up on some Ground types, but you should always scout for Rock type moves that could KO it. Beware of priority users as Vikavolt is frail and will take heavy damage from strong priority moves. Chip damage against the opposing team is really important to get some specific KOs (as shown by the calcs below), so using it late game when the opposing team has been weakened by Vikavolt's partners and/or hazards will make it even more effective.

It really needs chip damage to get KOs, but after an Agility, a weakened team really won't be able to do much.

Fire/Rock/Ground Checks/Counters: Vikavolt is weak to both Fire and Rock types and can struggle against Ground types, so having something to handle those is always.

Hazard Control: Since Vikavolt is weak to Stealth Rock, and you don't want it to get worn down, Rapid Spin of Defog support is always useful.

Hazard Setters: Vikavolt needs chip damage to get some specific KOs, so hazards on the opponent's side of the field can help weakening their team.

Physical Attackers: Vikavolt can struggle against special walls, so physical attackers/wallbreakers can take care of those to help it.

Mamoswine: While testing out Vikavolt on the ladder, I found that Mamoswine was a fantastic partner since it can deal with Ground, Fire and Rock types, special walls and also set up Stealth Rock.

Super Effective Hits: Pretty obvious: super effective=big damage. Beware of coverage moves too, such as Stone Edge on Ground types.

Hazards: Vikavolt is weak to Stealth Rock, and it gets worn down easily because of the Life Orb recoil. If you run Roost, however, hazards will still be annoying, but more manageable.

Priority/Very Fast Pokémon: Vikavolt is frail and dies to most strong hits, so fast and strong Pokémon can outspeed it, even after a boost, and KO it. Strong priority moves can do the same thing too.

A Trick Room set with 4 attacks/3 attacks + Roost could be usable. That's about it

Very solid build @"Elly" . From my experience with Vikavolt, it works as a very good slow Volt Switcher as well as a possible wallbreaker with Choice Specs. Base 145 special attack is nothing to laugh at by any means and Choice Specs make it so that Thunderbolt and Bug Buzz nearly have no switch ins

Tapu Lele could potentially be a good partner with the Psychic Terrain to shield Vikavolt from priority attacks but then again it would cause synergy issues as the team would lose responses to Fire, Ghost, Poison and Dark types. More on that another time

i honestly think that putting Flash Cannon instead of Roost is a better  option´cause if you want a Special Sweeper you wont stop to recover HP considering his low base stat
