THE BEST POKEMON GAME CONCEPT?

THE BEST POKÉMON GAME CONCEPT
By Jouzea and Jouzan

So my brother and I were playing one night, when we were intrigued of what could be the best Pokémon game ever. So we pretended to be game developers and think of concepts we want to be included.

Here’s What We Came Up With:

The perfect time for this game to be developed is when the game is losing market sales or we feel a downward trend on the interest of people on Pokémon. During this time we already have a lot of generations introduced and almost all the countries/continents in the real world are represented by a region in the games.

Let’s Get Started!

[Black screen first] Then, players will hear an alarm. Character opens eyes (at this point players will see the POV of their character), yawns, stretches, then walks to a table and grabs a pen and a piece of paper. [Camera zooms in to the piece of paper] Turns out it’s a registration form or some sort. Player will enter the following info:

Name (IGN) - System must be strict in names allowed, no symbols, no explicit or any offensive words as the game will be open to kids.
Age - This will help the system to determine the height and which division the player can enter.
Location - The game can also use the location settings of the console itself. This will help the system to determine what region the player will be assigned.
Siblings - Player may enter the IGN of their siblings that will also play the game to help the system assign them into the same house.
Friends - Player may enter the IGN of their friends that will also play the game to help the system assign them into the same town.
Parents - Players will be allowed to choose between Mother, Father or Both. They become NPCs in the same house that will help them save money (remember that feature?)
Gender - Male or Female
Complexion - Just like in XY, it’s an awesome feature!

When done, paper will be put into a sling bag (XY bag) then the character will face the mirror. There, players can customize the hair, other facial features, body type, etc. Or the player can opt to use the front camera and take a picture of him/her for the system to generate. They can still edit it of course. The clothes will be default but can be changed as you go on in the game.

[Camera shifts view (as in ORAS or XY)] The player now may leave his/her room. NPC Parent/s will greet the player; hands running shoes, black cap, and allowance (starting money to buy items); then wish him/her luck. Player now will leave house.

Outside there will be an NPC teacher that will escort them to a School bus. There will be a lot of buses for each town as the houses in the town in this system will be greater than what we have now. While waiting for the bus to be filled, players can interact with other players that are waiting too. (Communication Control must again be strict to ensure to abusive words can be use). Once the bus the player is on is filled, the bus will leave for the Region’s University. (So the faster you customize, the faster you’ll get to start your adventure). Player’s will meet the Professor (Oak or the others depending on their region). He will introduce the world of Pokémon but as if he’s just reviewing his past lessons.

Now The Time You’ve All Been Waiting For: Selecting Starter Pokémon

The choices now will be different from the norm. Instead of just 3 choices, all fire, water, grass, electric, and rock types that have an evolution from the region will be available for choices. Since these Pokémons are bred by the Professor, they must be pretty well-bred. All the starters will have five stats with 31-IVS selected at random. One of each Starter available will have perfect IVs (they won’t be as friendly though).

To select, the player will give Poképuffs to the one they chose. After choosing they will be asked to give it a nickname. (Pokémon not given a nickname will not be as friendly and be harder to befriend in Poké-Amie)

When the batch is done choosing their starters, Professor will announce a mini-tournament. Single Battle, Single Elimination. After the tournament, players will be given a jacket, their Pokédex, and the mission to complete it. The Grand champion of the mini-tournament will have a special jacket, Pokédex, the title of Ace Trainer, and a ribbon for their partner Pokémon. Players will be transported to their houses and can now begin their adventure. Starters will not be tradable.

Some Game Mechanics

- Say goodbye to unchallenging NPCs to battle when you meet their gazes! Now, players can battle another player once a day for EXP and Gold. I don’t like the gambling concept though, so the player can win Gold by winning but not from the loser’s Gold.
- Players can battle any gym in whatever order they like. The gym leaders (NPCs at first ^-^) will base their team (difficulty) on the following: highest level of the Pokémon party, number of Pokémons in the party, and number of badges already owned.
- High level Pokémons will refuse to follow Owner without required badge. Same as what we have now.
- Pokémon stats will not be viewed in form of numbers anymore. Buwahahaha! That’s right! EVs and the stats will be viewed as graphs. Basic stats as in Pokémon DB and EV as in the graph in the Training. Attack damages will also be hidden.
- No more soft resets!!!
- Nature will not be stated directly. Clues will be given when playing Amie and by the time the affection is maxed it’ll be obvious. Players can put what they think the nature of the Pokémon is in its tag. So it’ll be the Trainer’s job to find out the nature of his/her Pokémons.
- Maxing affection (Amie) will give the player the same benefits we have now. It’s really a cool idea! Will apply to PVP battles but not with competitions.
- Maxing affection (Amie) will also give the option for your lead Pokémon to follow you outside of Pokéball. Won’t apply to fishes though. Small Pokémons may be on the characters shoulder instead.
- Sky battles or wild encounters while flying will not allow non-flying/ghost types except those with levitate. It’s weird to see Snorlax vs. Fearow at sky, isn’t it?
- Surf and Dive encounters/battles will not allow fire types and will half the speed of non-water types. Except Ekans, Arbok, Seviper and the likes.
- 7 second per turn in battle. Each player will only be given 7 seconds to decide on a move during battles.

Introducing the Team/Guild/Party

This is an upgrade for the Secret Base feature. After receiving the player’s second badge, he/she can team up with other players who also have a minimum of two badges. The team may only have maximum of three members. Once a team is made, they will need a secret base and a name for their team (Communication Control applies). They can battle with other teams to collect flags. Battle formats between teams will be Separate Single Battles Best of Three (one Pokémon per member) or Triple Battle (two Pokémon per member). The winner will collect a flag of the losing Team.

Regional Championships

At a certain time of the year, horns will be blown marking the start of the regionals!

Regional VGC Championships – Players that completes the 8 badges before signal and able to register within 24 hours are eligible to compete. There will be three divisions: Juniors, Seniors, and Masters. This is determined by the system depending on the player’s age. Champions will be given free trip and expenses for the Worlds, cash prize, Team and character will be included in the region’s hall of fame, Wall paper for the team will be downloadable, Pokédex will be updated to include title, Pokémon team will have special ribbons, and lastly, an untradeable Event Legendary (Mew, Jirachi, and the likes) with perfect IVs depending on the region.

Team Championships – Teams that collected a certain number of flags, all of its members with 8 badges will be able to compete. Members may come from any division. The best team will be given free trip and expenses for the Worlds, cash prize, Team and character will be included in the region’s hall of fame, Wall paper for the team will be downloadable, Pokédex will be updated to include title, Pokémon team will have special ribbons, and lastly, untradeable Legendary Trio (Birds, Dogs and the likes) with perfect IVs depending on the region.

Regional Pokémon Contest – Ribbons, ribbons. No idea yet.

Worlds Championships

Regional VGC Championships – Top 8 of each division from different regions will compete. Winners will receive cash prize, invite for the next Worlds, Team and character will be included in the region’s hall of fame, Wall paper for the team will be downloadable, Pokédex will be updated to include title, Pokémon team will have special ribbons, and lastly, an untradeable Event Legendary (Mew, Jirachi, and the likes) with perfect IVs depending on the host region.

Team Championships – Top 4 teams from different regions will compete. Winning team will receive cash prize, invite for the next Worlds, Team and character will be included in the region’s hall of fame, Wall paper for the team will be downloadable, Pokédex will be updated to include title, Pokémon team will have special ribbons, and lastly, an untradeable Legendary Trio (Birds, Dogs and the likes) with perfect IVs depending on the host region.

Regional Pokémon Contest – Champions from different regions will compete.

Events After Worlds

- Legendary Pokémons except the Prizes for the Champions can now be located in their regions. A player or a team may try to capture it. In case of a team, whoever caught the Legendary with the Pokéball will get the Pokémon but all members will register it in their Pokédex. If either the team or the legendary blacks out, the legendary will fly and will appear randomly in the same region until caught. All Legendaries will be released when the signal of the next Regionals is sounded, including those given as awards. Only one of each kind will exist.

- A ship or Fly can now be used to go to different regions in the world. Once the horn marking the next Season (different from the Regionals) is sounded it’ll be disabled again and the player will be stuck to the region he/she’s in.

- Players who want to become gym leaders can now apply to the gym they want. Applicants must follow the theme of the gym, but not necessarily same Pokémons. In case of multiple applicants, it’ll be decided by a single elimination tournament. Gym leaders will also be included in the hall of fame. Gym leaders won’t be able to compete in the next Regionals though. They’ll remain as Gym leaders unless, challenged by applicants after the next worlds or if they quit. Once they quit NPC will take over and they won’t be able to apply again, they will also be stripped off from the hall of fame.

- Awards for the best Pokémon Breeder and Berry Farmer in the World will be given: hall of fame entry on every region, update of Pokédex to include title, Manaphy (Breeder) and Shaymin (Berry Farmer).

Catch ‘em All

It’ll be harder to complete the Pokédex now, but in case one managed to complete the regional Pokédex, he will be awarded: regional hall of fame entry, update of Pokédex to include title, shiny charm and Deoxys or Genesect

If somehow anyone managed to complete the National Pokédex he will be awarded: hall of fame entry in every region, update of Pokédex to include title and a shiny Arceus with the ability to make all Pokémon in the player’s party permanently shiny.

PS: if you managed to finish the wall of text above, you have the qualities the game
