[VGC] More VGC with Weird Names : Silv-Z-Twind+M.Char-X
#1
Silv-Z-Twind+M.Char-X
Go on, just try and pronounce that, I'll wait

Done?

Ok LETS DO THIS,

First of all the name makes a bit more sense that it looks (at least in my mind)
Silv-Z-Twind+M.Char-X
Silv for Silvally,  Z-Twind for Z-Tailwind,   M.Char-X for Mega Charizard - X,  Each being a part that I put into building the core of this team:

The Team

The Sets and Explanation:

Type-O (Silvally) @ Flyinium Z
Ability: RKS System
Level: 50
EVs: 140 HP / 24 Def / 116 SpA / 228 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tailwind
- Air Slash
- Ice Beam
- Grass Pledge

The Silv-Z-Twind part of the title.  Giving the effects of a focus energy while activating tailwind is a major support move for this team as well as boosting my own offensive stance on the field.  Air Slash is there to act with the zflyinium Z if I need a Nuke something that is threating my other mon.  Ice Beam for those hard Lando-T teams and Zapdos.  Meanwhile Grass Pledge is one of my favorite bits of tech on this mon.  During the early stages of building this team I fould my self failing to counter Hard Rain teams with the likes for M-Swampert, Ferrothorn, and Peliper.  So to counter this I added Grass Pledge to amp up my resistance to these teams.

Blasto Burn (Charizard) (M) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
Level: 50
EVs: 144 HP / 196 Atk / 60 Def / 108 Spe
Adamant Nature
IVs: 0 SpA
- Flare Blitz
- Protect
- Shadow Claw
- Dragon Claw

The Second part of the title, and it being rather simplly a Mega Charizard X, bosting a great ability in Tough Claws, and also holding a bit of fun tech.  Standard moves in Flare Blitz and Dragon Claw, but also holding Shadow Claw for those Cresselia, and Protect for whenever it is needed to stall out a turn.

Green Rocks (Tyranitar) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 0 SpA
- Rock Slide
- Crunch
- Stomping Tantrum
- Low Kick

Once again we have a rather standard Mon, but standard does not mean bad.  Leading with Scarf allows me to be able to atempt killing an opposing mon while setting up tailwind.   Rock Slide and Crunch For strong stab and hacks, Stoping Tantrum for single target ground type moves, and Low Kick for something like Mega Kang, and another T-Tar.

Lando-T (Thundurus-Therian) @ Life Orb
Ability: Volt Absorb
Level: 50
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Dark Pulse

Top teir Nickname, yes I know.  His purpose here is to be able to dish out fast damage to various threats.  ThunderBolt on Char-Y, Tapu Fini, and any Heavy Rain Team.  Sludge Bomb on the other tapus and Mega Gardevoir.  Hidden Power Ice for Lando-T, Naganadel, Zapdos, Salamence and Amoonguss.  And finally Dark Pulse for Metagross and Cresselia.

Reboot (Magnezone) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Magnet Pull
Level: 50
EVs: 180 HP / 24 Def / 228 SpA / 76 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Discharge
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Protect

My other strong electric type on the team.  His main purpose is to both attack the other team with some high paralysis chances, and to heal my Thundurus-T with his Volt Absorb ability.
Flash Canon for other stab and hitting more fairies, while HP Fire will deal with other steel types that Thundurus or anyone else can't beat on their own.

Pacifica (Primarina) (F) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Torrent
Level: 50
EVs: 108 HP / 36 Def / 192 SpA / 172 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Water Pledge
- Energy Ball
- Dazzling Gleam
- Icy Wind

And Finally some icing on top of the cake: more speed control.  While Primarina is slow one it's own, a tailwind is an extreme help, and Icy Wind helps to keep speed control even after it runs out.  Energy Ball again for water ground and rock types that scare M-Char-X, and Dazzling Gleam for a strong spread Fairy type move.  Now as I showed before I also head the move Grass Pledge on my Silvally.  When both of these moves combind they unleash guess what... EVEN MORE SPEED CONTROL.  It "Makes a Swamp with quarters the opponents pokemon's speed for 4 Turns.

Some Replays From Showdown Testing,

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7v...-699349441 Once again, a very nice looking team, but not able to stop the mad power of Silvally

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7v...-699579099 OOOH a Dancer Combo, too bad I have T-tar

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7vgc2018-700289688  BROTHA! looks like I found another Silvally team, still turning out on top though

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7v...-700843801 And of course we gotta end it off on more meta

Conclusion

After a few weeks of testing this team with other members I finally feel good about where its at.  As you could see the last slot where Primarina now holds was very up for grabs.  It used to belong to Tapu Lele, then Breloom, and then Jellicent.  The one problem is that this team struggles with Trick Room which Im trying to work around now.  Any advice on how to work with this issue is appreciated.

Thank You all for reading and see y'all down below,

Umm, I gonna do a bump because I'm unsure why I haven't seen it on the side, even after I posted it

Hmm, four of your mons are weak to Lando, how has that matchup been?

@PerchPond

Its actually not really been bothering my team that much.  Tailwind allows most of my pokemon to outspeed it, and I can deal a lot of damage too it with things like Char-X's Flare Blitz doing over 50% on a Max HP and Max Defense Lando-T,  Tyranitar can do about 30% with Rock Slide, and Primarina can do about 60% with Icy Wind and Water Pledge.

So overall my counters for Lando-T outweighed all the troubles that he would bring.

Thanks for asking,

@FireTaco Cool, it can sure be risky to depend on Tailwind to beat it, but as long as it goes up it works so. Have you been up against any Trick Room?

@PerchPond

Yep I have, Don't think I have a lot of those replays, but it has either been me killing the opponent's setter or having to stall it out.  Not a fun experience at all.

This is what I need some help with to be able to feel confident to build in game,  it being either changing some Ev's invested in speed, or changing some pokemon entirely.  Any ideas?

@FireTaco Yeah I figured since your team is quite speedy. Options could be Darkinium-Z on Tyranitar to OHKO Cress and other Psychic type TR setters, but then you miss out on the scarf speed. You could also consider Thundurus-I with Prankster Taunt (pretty sure it gets that). Or you can replace Magnezone with Ghostium-Z Aegislash to threaten TR setters and still have a steel type and Thundurus as an electric type

Cheers
