[VGC] The "FAKE PG" Team: Team Report Thing
#1
Some of you might be aware of the very strong "FAKE PG" Team or Teams that have shown success in the current VGC metagame as of late. (I went up by about 250 ELO Points on Showdown within an hour with this team.)
If you don't know what this team is, "FAKE PG" stands for: (Lol the Sprites are Messed Up)
  • Tapu Fini
  • Arcanine
  • Kartana
  • Electric Type (Tapu Koko or Togedemaru Usually)
  • Porygon2
  • Gigalith

Team Composition and Benefits
The team includes the already "famous" core, the AFK Core of Arcanine, Tapu Fini, and Kartana. However, the team also adds Gigalith and
Porygon, which is a strong and useful duo. Porygon2's Trick Room supports Gigalith's ability to take on threats like Gyarados, Arcanine, and
Celesteela. Porygon's Ice Beam and (Return/Frustration) aid Gigalith in taking down vulnerable mons. Tapu Fini, Arcanine, and Kartana can switch in on stronger threats to these two, and can clean up the game nicely. Because Arcanine, Fini, and Kartana can cover each other, they help the PG Duo and Vise Versa. This is an important aspect of this team, (and most teams lol). The last slot of the team can go to an
electric type of your choice, however Tapu Koko and Togedemaru are the most reasonable choices. Tapu Koko's Electric Moves cover some types that the rest can not take down as easily. Koko can clean up the field of vulnerable Pokemon with lower HP. Togedemaru takes on a more defensive or supportive role. It can disrupt the enemy's attack "flow" and ability to set up using the moves Fake Out and Encore.
The many different options of moves you can make, makes this team versatile and has answers to much of the common threats in the game.

Common Checks to this Team

  1. Nihilego - The Jellyfish puts pressure on the FAKE PG Team if properly supported. Power Gem and Thunderbolt target Arcanine and Tapu Fini respectively. Nihilego resists attacks from Arcanine, Tapu Fini (Moonblast or D Gleam), Gigalith, Porygon2, and Tapu Koko, making this Jellyfish Symbiote a harder threat to take out of the game. Nihilego is commonly paired with Arcanine and a Tapu (Commonly Koko or Bulu) These Pokemon are common heavy hitters that support Nihilego in battle and have potential to O-HKO a lot of team members.
  2. Buzzwole - Shown in some Regional Events, Buzzwole, with the aid of supportive Pokemon and Heavy Hitters, actually makes it a big threat to the team. An array of physically offensive moves can sometimes make the thing unpredictable in what it can use to deal massive damage to the Tapus (Poison Jab is a common move on Buzzwole), All-Out Pummeling and Superpower can take out Kartana in one hit, and offensive moves like Lunge and Ice Punch can take out Kartana in almost one hit. The same can be said against Porygon2 and Gigalith, who are sometimes the most important part of the team depending on the situation. The best bet against Buzzwole would be Arcanine, Tapu Fini, or Koko. The problem is that if you did not bring them into the battle in the first place, this poses a problem to the team. Buzzwole also OHKOS Arcanine with Superpower, and the Tapus with Poison Jab.

It seems a nice 3d to introduce to the FAKE PG, but I have a note and some questions for you.

- Tapu Fini doesn't care about Nihilego's Tbolt when it gets STAB on sludge Bomb lmao.
- What is Shadow Ball for? The only three pokèmon resisting both Fini's STABs are Kartana, Tentacruel and Toxapex in VGC17... o.o
- Can you say st about the spreads? Kartana and Gigalith's ones are very strange, while Koko's one seems rlly bad.
