I have a question and please forgive me if it's dumb. I know you can't trade special Pokemon via certain methods but can you trade them via infrared, local WiFi, and people you have on your friend's list. The Pokemon I'm asking about are Mew, Darkrai and so forth.

you can trade through infrared/local with your friends Im pretty sure.

what about acquaintances and passersby? or do they have to be under your friends?

Not sure about those, I haven't really tried since I have little trust in strangers with my special mons sorry

You can trade event Pokemon through regular trades, whether through local wifi, infared, or internet. You cannot, however, trade these Pokemon through GTS or through Wonder Trade.
