I thought it was pretty meh myself. The charm of the main anime is something it lacked. Now maybe if it was longer and more detailed I would have enjoyed it. Does not help Red is my least liked character in the Pokemon world. Now I would love a well done Origins style of Gen 3 and Gen 6 myself. I will give props to some of the bigger voice actors they got for it however.

Hm, it sounds like there is a generational gap between us cause I had a fangasm when I watched it. Red was that guy when I was a kid. It was rushed and that was disappointing but it was mainly just fan service. Plus the last part was super cool. Both the elite four scenes and the mewtwo/charX fight. Red IS sort of a one dimensional character but that's cause they were really trying to impress the player that they were the one on the adventure. Then again, I have haaaaaated the main anime since it came out when I was 11. I think Ash as a character utterly fails to represent pokemon players or even pokemon trainers. I got to about the point where they were finishing up with the orange islands and got fed up with it.

I agree that gen 3 would make a compelling special but disagree about gen 6. Gen 6 had the worst villain hands down. A lot of people would say this about gen 5, but that made sense for the american theme I think. The villain rallying people to a cause so that he could make himself secretly more powerful and rule over them before they could respond and get rid of him. That's like... every presidential election here. Lysandre on the other hand... he gathers an army of hipsters with a cool tech company in order to turn the world into some kind of... socialist dystopia or something and in the end only accomplishes giving the player access to a super powerful pokemon and blowing himself and his weapon to bits. Don't get me wrong, I still loved gen 6. The graphics, the rival characters, the fairy type, mega evolution and the new pokemon were good. I liked them a lot. But I wouldn't want to sit through the plot exposition again unless a lot of the minor characters were made significantly more important. But with the pacing of Origins that would be unlikely. So... not trying to hate but I just don't think it'd be good. Gen 4 on the other hand... a crazy religious cult trying to unmake all of creation to rebuild in their leaders vision... that'd be sweet.

4 episode mini anime based off the first game, with original charcters red and green(blue in english)

in japanese red is even voiced by narutos voice actress ^_^

i've watched it like 6 times by now,

the only disappointment is that it is so short,

pokemon dont even say there names in it, they sound like they would sound, like animals

i loved it immediatly just cause, but once i saw the first fight between chrmander and squirtle i realized it was the greatest piece of poke anime eveeeer, the battles in it are really really good

i seen somethin about them making a emerald based anime but i think it was only a couple minute long shorts during comercial breaks ok a new episode of pokemon XY er somthin

thanks for checkin out the thread!

PS, i know my spelling is bad but i blame the english language,

dude you forgot to mention how good the music is! So gurrrrd. Wish it got the full go ahead for an actual series Sad

I absolutely LOVED Pokemon Origins; the only drawback I saw was that it was only a whopping 4 episodes. If they extended it and had made a season of it the length of an average season of the "official" anime, then I'd definitely be hooked
