HP is an abbreviation for Hidden power, a unique special attack of base 60. The typing is determine by whether what iv point values your pokemon has. This is practically the most useful attack for special attackers as it can catch anyone off guard since every pokemon capable of learning the move. Sometimes this is what a good majority of special attacker like Serperior or Pidgeot have to settle with just to hit certain pokemon like hp ground for heatran or hp fire for scizor
