RE: VGC/Competitive Battling Mentorship Program - MegaGallade475 - Aug 26, 2015

How does this work, and how do I sign up?

RE: VGC/Competitive Battling Mentorship Program - MegaGallade475 - Aug 26, 2015

I would be a mentee.

RE: VGC/Competitive Battling Mentorship Program - MegaGallade475 - Aug 26, 2015

I really need help with vgc stuff and my current team.
Also, if I were to sign up for this, would it just be online? I would not meet anyone in person.

I have always wanted to get into the pokemon competitive vgc scene but I have never really had the guidance to get started. I have the basic knowledge of vgc but I would really appreciate a mentor to help me get started and practice with me. Thanks

I'd like a mentor for getting up and winning in competitive VGC.

Eastern Time Zone here.

RE: VGC/Competitive Battling Mentorship Program - Blue - Sep 12, 2015

Hello! My name is Blue and I'm a Pokemon streamer on Twitch!

I love to shiny hunt and interacting with viewers but I really would love to get into the Pokemon competitive scene!
I've battled a couple times before and won a couple of FFA's before!
I understand the basics of how to breed and such but I would love to get better on understanding chemistry of teams. What works with what - I want to know so much to the point where I could create a team of my own out of scratch without having to ask for advice all the time. Maybe even a better understanding of why and how certain Pokemon work well together and such and understanding what I should be thinking when I'm in battle.
Like focus on typing, movesets, etc.
As of now I usually make competitive builds for Pokemon that I love - not really on what works best with each other.

I would love it if someone were to mentor me! I'm from Eastern Standard Time (New Jersey, USA) and I'd love to possibly chat with someone on Skype or PM's that could help me.

Thanks!

I've noticed there's been a lot of newer members asking for competitive battling help and I think it'd be a great idea to bring people together and help new people more efficiently with having a mentor program. Interested in being a mentor/getting a mentor? Keep reading below!

A mentor is someone who can help you get started in the competitive world (whether it be Smogon/VGC/etc.), build teams, or just give any VGC advice in general! Or you can practice battling teams together on Battle Spot/Showdown together, etc. There are no real requirements to becoming a mentor, VGC/Smogon/battling experience is a must though.

If anybody wants to be a mentor just post a little about yourself and what format you're best in/play in (Smogon/VGC), your timezone, and any experience you have! And then we can get newer members to get assigned to someone. THIS WILL BE ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS.* Also feel free to message/post questions on this thread for any of these people!

* = (Unless you are listed for both VGC AND Smogon, we will try to pair you with a mentee that also wants to learn more about both)

Please keep checking this thread to see if you have been assigned, and once you are assigned to someone please PM your new mentee/mentor and introduce yourself! I will try to send out PMs once everyone is assigned, but it is very time consuming so for my sanity just remember to check this thread.
