Thoughts

To me, Machamp is a very under-rated Pokemon in the VGC 2015 format as it checks many of the common threats, a major one being Mega Kangaskhan. It has a nice move pool and a good ability in No Guard. However, with no effective way to gain back HP and a incredibly poor Speed stat, Trick Room is an absolute necessity. A Pokemon like Gothitelle would be an excellent partner as it has access to both Trick Room and Heal Pulse. In this particular build I opted for more investment in Special Defense, but if you took out the EVs in Special Defense and Speed and placed them into Attack, it would allow Machamp to reach an Attack stat of 191, high enough to OHKO Mega Kangaskhan with Dynamic Punch. A set running Guts (to scare away burns) and Close Combat (for higher damage output) would also be viable. In conclusion, Machamp is a very strong and threatening Pokemon in this format.

This only problem i have with no guard Machamp is that every attack will hit it no matter what. Also what are you going to do about Talonflame, Cresselia, Sylveon, Azumarril, Mega Gardevoir, Mega Metagross, and Togekiss?

RE: Machamp - Attack (Physical) - Marcusube - Mar 20, 2015

This is a good build, however I have a concern. If Machamp is so slow and relies on Trick Room, the fact that you're using an Assault Vest means that the first turn before setting up Trick Room so Machamp would be open to getting fainted by faster opponents? Sure you could make the argument that Machamp can be used late game but that really comes across as ineffective.

Also why not just invest more into attack seeing as how Machamp with a little more attack investments can OHKO opponents instead of leaving it to chance?
