Keep Calm and Tail-Room. - Pokeventurer - Sep 9, 2015 Hi guys i am back with another RMT post! This time i focused my thoughts around on mega slowbro to construct a team. i had ideas of using it as a CM sweeper and it worked out pretty well in it's pod by thetime i completed the team i also did added tailwind to my arsenal to potentially make it better, how? you'll find out soon. So let's get started with the team: Few points before going through the team: . Plz don't judge the team on the size of the text (less or large), i will include sufficient amount of info on each member. . The archetype of tailwind and trick room meshing together isn't the idea for most, however it has been ran successfully in good hand i.e Angel Miranda and Lajos. Battle videos explain it further. . This team is heavyly modeled off of from a youtuber Kyle Cole who built a team around mega slowbro (idk if it was a VGC team or what) extremely early this season(by which i mean 2015 not 2016, cuz were playing in the vgc 15 rules still), this team gets alot of things changed on it for it's betterment sand fitting my playstyle. . This RMT post includes calcs, battle vids, complete description and personal experience of use. . I am focusing on Defensive calcs, as most of the specialized EV'ing depends upon the survival of attacks to prove my statements. The Team: > Slowbro-Mega @ Slowbronite Ability: Oblivious EVs: 252 HP / 32 Def / 20 SpA / 204 SpD Sassy Nature IVs: 0 Spe - Calm Mind - Trick Room - Scald - Psyshock * i know i am making a waste of EV's but no one wants to under-speed minimum speed amoongus in TR* So this would be the star of the team and also the only mega included in it. this was sure to become a TR team, as surprisingly Kyle's team i saw didn't had any of that (actually no speed control) and there were three slow mons on it (amoongus, m-slowbro and sylvie) so it was the first change i made to it. slowbro can easily set up calm-minds and trick rooms before mega evolving without the fear of taunts thanks to it's obvious oblivious ability. Thundy-i is the biggest threat to the team, it's EV spread is there to make it survive a 252+ thundy-i's thunderbolt at full health and probably maximize my chances of setting up a trick room (Note: slowbro get's a base 80 sp.def stat before and after m-evo, so don't count a flaw or mistake it). Slowbro can do alot to threats like amoongus and heatran while dealing with alot of raw damage forced on it. Slowbro is absolutely phenomenal, as you'd see in the battle vids down below it works out perfectly, just cuz it's a burrito trying to balance itself on a tip of its tail, don't take it light, battle vids give a full, prove of it's potential. 252 SpA Life Orb Thundurus Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 204+ SpD Mega Slowbro: 315-374 (79.9 - 94.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 252+ Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 32 Def Mega Slowbro: 99-117 (49 - 57.9%) -- 93.8% chance to 2HK 252+ SpA Choice Specs Pixilate Sylveon Hyper Voice vs. 252 HP / 204+ SpD Mega Slowbro: 127-151 (62.8 - 74.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 252+ SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 204+ SpD Mega Slowbro: 166-198 (82.1 - 98%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 204+ SpD Mega Slowbro: 146-174 (72.2 - 86.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO *tanks almost every move like a boss!* Amoonguss @ Mental Herb Ability: Regenerator EVs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 SpD Bold Nature - Spore - Rage Powder - Giga Drain - Protect Amoongus makes the best pairing for slowbro, it's basically like a slower garde and amoongus combo, with amoongus i am double checking things like thundurus taunt, by adding on mental herb and other than that from crippling amoongus completely whenever it is taunted, this defensive duo surely is brought into alot of matches and i love it whence TR is up. The def investments are Metagross' zen headbutt. which pays of alongside sylveon (a special wall). amoongus from the perspective of moveset is pretty standard and the best that gets for one. Overall from the team my favorite lead was slowbro + amoongus, it just provides such great disruption and these two stack up advantages for each other where now slowbro can easily set up calm mind, whereas in TR both of em are faster and amoongus constantly spams spores everywhere, putting me in a great position right from the get-go. 252 Atk Tough Claws Mega Metagross Zen Headbutt vs. 252 HP / 212+ Def Amoonguss: 186-218 (84.1 - 98.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 252+ Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 212+ Def Amoonguss: 154-184 (69.6 - 83.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 252+ SpA Mega Gardevoir Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 212+ Def Amoonguss: 168-200 (76 - 90.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 92+ SpA Mega Gardevoir Psychic vs. 252 HP / 44 SpD Amoonguss: 206-246 (93.2 - 111.3%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO Terrakion @ Focus Sash Ability: Justified EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Close Combat - Rock Slide - Quick Guard - Protect Terrakion is the third member of the team, i choose it to fight out of TR, i wasn't getting much power inside my TR especially with the first two pokemons on the team (without set-up). Fighting coverage takes care of hydreigons, heatrans, scrafty, Kanagskhan, excadrill, tyranitar, whereas rock slide contributes outside of TR to get flinch haxes and get away with luck sometimes. Terrakion is simple and i love it, focus sash gives it a fighting chance and suites my often hyper offensive choice of play. It really doesn't needs much explanation, quick guard helps to further block fake out shenanigans and prankster mons (thundurus intended). People specifically run lum on terra to negate thundy's t-wave for once, once it happened with me too, when thundy was spamming t-waves all around as soon as it saw i lead with hydreigon and terrakion, whence i switch out into slowbro and set up TR, it's up to sweep again * scenario included in battle videos* 252 Atk Terrakion Close Combat vs. 152 HP / 20 Def Mega Kangaskhan: 200-236 (100.5 - 118.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO -1 252 Atk Terrakion Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 108 Def Scrafty: 110-132 (63.9 - 76.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 252 Atk Terrakion Close Combat vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Hydreigon: 222-264 (132.1 - 157.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO 252 Atk Terrakion Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 194-230 (97.9 - 116.1%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO 252 Atk Terrakion Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Mega Tyranitar: 244-292 (117.8 - 141%) -- guaranteed OHKO Hydreigon @ Life Orb Ability: Levitate EVs: 84 HP / 12 Def / 236 SpA / 4 SpD / 172 Spe Modest Nature - Draco Meteor - Dark Pulse - Protect - Tailwind Hydreigon packs the tailwind (as a secret) it is quite a rare move you'd see on hydreigon, however i won't guess taunts to threaten it. i choose simple 252/252/4 EV's for no reason at first, but switched to this bulky spread cuz terrakion can take care of mirrors pretty easily and after tailwind i outspeed always. this spread survives kang's return and dishes out quite some damage before going down. it may be helped by the contrary speed control of slowbro (TR) to bash other 252/252+ speed hydreigon. hydreigon is supposed to deal damage and fulfill the tailwind part of the team, it's synergy with heatran is also very good which makes it ideal to snatch the spot. Life orb shouldn't really be questioned *unless you'r that one guy who will reply down "plz read this thread before making RMT posts: (link)"* 252 Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 84 HP / 12 Def Hydreigon: 162-190 (91 - 106.7%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO 252+ Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Return vs. 84 HP / 12 Def Hydreigon: 150-177 (84.2 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO Sylveon @ Pixie Plate Ability: Pixilate EVs: 92 HP / 116 Def / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 44 Spe Modest Nature - Hyper Voice - Calm Mind - Protect - Hidden Power [Ground] Sylveon is my favorite mon to play on the team, it lies between the lines of tailwind and trick room, it usually depends n what i bring in battles to support it, calm mind set up *surprisingly the second one on the team and btw it wasn't intended* was phenomenal and a great way to use it. once TR sets up a single or double set up following a hyper voice is going to destroy everything. Hidden power ground to double check and avoid heatran walls. This spread is basically very complex and good for the team. the defensive investment allows it to survive moderately good physical attacks. max sp.atk investment to nerf with hyper voices and then comes the speed investment, through which at max i speed tie with opposing (speed invested) sylveons and also allows it to outspeed max speed + nature base 100's behind a tailwind set-up, which again is in my situation. against faster mons like m-salamence, tailwind supporting teams, i like to bring it under TR support, also it isn't a pokemon which is considered "fast" by any means, by which i wanna say that it can easily be carried to both speed modes on this team. Idk really what am i targeting here but it is a bulky mon and you get it. Heatran @ Safety Goggles Ability: Flash Fire EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Timid Nature - Flamethrower - Flash Cannon - Earth Power - Protect Heatran locks up the squad with it's epicness *even though it's not a word*. Heatran is a pokemon i have brought to many teams this season surprisingly, while not liking many of it's aspects as with it's ran raw and usually. Heatran was supposed to be a pokemon who takes advantage of tailwind, one which counters amoongus * a mon used to counter and on every TR team* and something that gave me some resistance to things like flying (amoongus) electric (slowbro) and also something to deal with sylveon and bisharp which were quite a threat to the team. Heatran does all these jobs perfectly (the reason i put this mon on the team). i never felt need for any substitute to be put on and this simple set and spread does the job for now. No calculation as this mon loves to OHKO/2HKO most of the metagame, you'd expect any heatran to do.
