[DISCUSSION] Pokemon origins

I was just sitting here wondering what got me into pokemon, when I then thought, " What got everyone else into it " :P
So what did get all of you interested or hooked on the Pocket monster game of Pokemon?

The original anime got me into Pokémon. I remember watching it every Sunday before Red and Blue came out in America. I was 8 years old back then! Hard to believe that it's been 20 years.

My older cousin used to collect the cards and play with me. We'd watch the anime too and it was our common ground in the family

Pokemon Red got me into Pokemon. A friend let me borrow it and I was instantly hooked.

Watchin' the anime the first 3 seasons including Orange Islands..

Friend of mine got Pokemon Red when it came out and showed it to me. Next day I got myself Red and I've been playing ever since.

I loved dinosaurs when I was younger and one day on Cartoon network i think i saw the episode where Ash's Charmander evolved in Charmeleon and I got addicted to Pokemon, from the TCG to competitive battling!
