Answer: Are you sure it was timid in that battle? Because otherwise it would have been a speed tie :/
First, I guess a thing you should know about LC 3v3 is it is a fast format because many things do not survive attacks so stealth rock, will-o-wisp and such are not really used because attacking move do more damage.
Eviolite is a better item than Assault Vest in this format
Mediatite has fake out and bullet punch so Choice scarf is pointless

I think you can pass down higher level moves through breeding when both parents know that move.
