To begin, you first need to formulate a stratergy, choose a Pokemon you like or a Pokemon you see as reliable. After that, consider the main threats in VGC and try to make counters to them without breaking away from the original idea you have for your team. All you need to do after that is use calculations to get EV spreads you want, breed your team and practice with it until you've gotten the desired results
