As the title bluntly puts it,I need improvements on the VGC Team that I am about to use on an upcoming competition in the coming four days. Please do give all the criticism you'd wish because I pretty much just tossed this team together.
THE ALMOST ALL-FOURS TEAM IF NOT FOR ALAKAZAM
Venusaur@Venusaurite
176HP/140Def/80SpAtk/112SpDef
Bold Nature
-Giga Drain
-Sludge Bomb
-Protect
-Sleep Powder
This pokemon is the half of the team's core.I picked it because of the amazing bulk it sports and the offense it may deal when slept on.Same spread I've been running since my first ORAS Team Build.I LOVE the spread,I basically made sure that the spread permits it to survive many things while not being dead weight in terms of offense.I previously had Leech Seed in place of Sleep Powder but it's not as good as Sleep Powder when trying to pull back momentum in a pinch,Sleep Powder shenanigans saved me dozens of times in 2v1 situations.
80 SpA Mega Venusaur Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 116 SpD Rotom-W: 92-110 (58.5 - 70%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
80 SpA Mega Venusaur Giga Drain vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Terrakion: 116-140 (69.4 - 83.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
80 SpA Mega Venusaur Sludge Bomb vs. 92 HP / 0 SpD Sylveon: 104-126 (57.1 - 69.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
80 SpA Mega Venusaur Giga Drain vs. 44 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-T: 66-78 (38.8 - 45.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Charizard Overheat vs. 176 HP / 112 SpD Thick Fat Mega Venusaur in Sun: 116-138 (65.5 - 77.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 176 HP / 140+ Def Mega Venusaur: 51-61 (28.8 - 34.4%) -- 4.4% chance to 3HKO
252+ Atk Landorus-T Stone Edge vs. 176 HP / 140+ Def Mega Venusaur: 46-55 (25.9 - 31%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252 Atk Kangaskhan Return vs. 176 HP / 140+ Def Mega Venusaur: 49-58 (27.6 - 32.7%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
Entei@Life Orb
96HP/204Atk/208Spe
Jolly Nature
-Sacred Fire
-Iron Head
-Stone Edge
-Protect
The other half of the core,I wanted something that could burn things while still doing insane deals of damage,it also does get man KO's off due to the surprise factor. This is the exact same Entei from The Megathread.I haven't used it in a battle yet as it always had bad matchups with the teams I ran into,so I might play around the EV's a bit to get what my team really needs.
(Calcs are from the Megathread too)
204 Atk Life Orb Entei Sacred Fire vs. 252 HP / 184 Def Amoonguss: 211-250 (95.4 - 113.1%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO
204 Atk Life Orb Entei Iron Head vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Gardevoir: 148-177 (102.7 - 122.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
204 Atk Life Orb Entei Stone Edge vs. 212 HP / 110 Def Thundurus: 153-182 (84.5 - 100.5%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
204 Atk Life Orb Entei Sacred Fire vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Mawile: 164-195 (104.4 - 124.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Alakazam@Focus Sash
4HP/252SpAtk/252Spe
Timid Nature
Ability:Magic Guard
-Dazzling Gleam
-Psyshock
-Hidden Power Ice
-Protect
This is my answer to all the Cybertron Gengars running around, basically,a double-hitting move from my other mon to break the sash, and his Psyshock and our little phantom will be saying goodbye(since none of them really runs protect). It is also a good answer to Conkeldurr and Amoongus, while completely catching things like Lando-T and Mega Mence off guard with HP Ice,he is almost guaranteed to fire off an attack with its sash, and it at the very least speed ties with max speed Mega Mence. While Inner Focus may be nice to ward off Fake Outs to threaten Mega Lopunny,I figured that Magic Guard is much better for conserving my sash.
252 SpA Alakazam Hidden Power Ice vs. 4 HP / 0- SpD Mega Salamence: 172-204 (100.5 - 119.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Alakazam Hidden Power Ice vs. 24 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-T: 172-204 (102.9 - 122.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Alakazam Dazzling Gleam vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mega Sableye: 84-100 (53.5 - 63.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Alakazam Dazzling Gleam vs. 56 HP / 0 SpD Hydreigon: 204-244 (117.2 - 140.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Alakazam Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Conkeldurr: 150-176 (70.7 - 83%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Alakazam Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 180 Def Amoonguss: 152-180 (68.7 - 81.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery
(We all know this guy can't take hits so I won't bother putting up defensive calcs.)
Landorus-T@Choice Scarf
4HP/252Atk/252Spe
Adamant Nature
-Earthquake
-Rock Slide
-U-Turn
-Knock Off
You only either end up losing a game because of bad plays or completely win the game by great plays through this Pokemon,he just functions so well when used with pretty much any combinations in my team.
Luxray@Shuca Berry
252HP/120Def/16SpAtk/120SpDef
Relaxed Nature
-Snarl
-Protect
-Thunder wave
-Discharge
I originally had this support Arcanine but I opted not to increase the Water Type weakness,so what I did is to get a Luxray that acts similarly as a fantastic support, and by fantastic support,I mean FANTASTIC.The double intimidate helps out very much when coupled with Landorus-T's.Don't even LET ME GET STARTED WITH SNARL HERE, when paired with my Venusaur-M which has awesome defensive bulk, opponents tend to focus it down with special attacks, and I am fairly certain that we know what Snarl does.T-Wave for crippling stuff,Discharge is for general stab as well as spread paralysis(IT HAS A 30% CHANCE TO PARALYZE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD).I chose Relaxed since I don't really plan on getting this thing to outspeed things, and did not want to lower its defense, first thing that came to my mind was Relaxed so I completely forgot about Bold which does pretty much the same thing.
-1 252 Atk Kangaskhan Return vs. 252 HP / 120+ Def Luxray: 46-55 (24.5 - 29.4%) -- 99.8% chance to 4HKO
-1 252 Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Return vs. 252 HP / 120+ Def Luxray: 39-47 (20.8 - 25.1%) -- 0% chance to 4HKO
-1 252 Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 120+ Def Shuca Berry Luxray: 60-72 (32 - 38.5%) -- 96.3% chance to 3HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 120 SpD Luxray: 148-175 (79.1 - 93.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
-1 252 Atk Life Orb Terrakion Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 120+ Def Luxray: 86-101 (45.9 - 54%) -- 40.6% chance to 2HKO
I could give you more generally feared attacks in VGC that this awesome wolf-lion hybrid thing lives, but these were the most significant to me.
Terrakion@Lum berry
4HP/252Atk/252Spe
Jolly Nature
-Rock Slide
-Close Combat
-Double Kick
-Protect
Pretty much the cookie cutter Terrakion,I noticed that I didn't really have an immediate solution to Smeargle with, and I felt the need to have more ways of stopping Bisharp and Charizard-Y.Also,this Short Winged Pegabull just applies sheer offensive pressure, when I feel rested in the matchup without it,I use it as a bait to buy some of my pokemon the time they need.
Team in motion - These are the only battles that I currently have with the team above.
All played as PGP.Eraldem
REALLY close match here,I did make some plays that are beyond terrible but thank Haxceus,Alakazam pulled through.
