Dragonite
[Image: 250px-149Dragonite.png]
Stats: 91 HP / 134 Atk / 95 Def / 100 SAtk / 100 Sdef / 80 Spd

Abilities:
Inner Focus: This Pokémon will not flinch. Does not prevent flinching with Focus Punch.
Multiscale (Hidden Ability): Reduces damage afflicted to the Pokémon by 50% if at maximum HP

The Build

Dragonite @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Multiscale
Level: 50
Neutral Nature (Serious/Hardy/Quirky etc)
EVs: 236 HP / 72 Atk / 36 Def / 28 SpA / 76 SpD / 60 Spe
- Tailwind
- Draco Meteor
- Rock Slide/Ice Beam (If Ice Beam is on the set instead of Rock Slide, I would suggest Modest nature with 100 Satk Evs instead of 72 Atk /28 SAtk, also 100 SAtk Modest doesn't waste Evs)
- Protect

Summary:
Dragonite is pretty gimmicky but I was looking at stats and found that Dragonite's stats and ability are pretty amazing but its weaknesses need to be covered.  I think Weakness Policy is great, allowing 2 full powered Dracos but may not always get the boost. Weakness Policy still is the best item for Dragonite seeing how it can abuse its move pool. Draco Meteor OHKO Dragons while Dragon Claw needs a boost to OHKO them. Also D-Dance sets may be walled and Outspeed by pokemon by 108 or higher assuming that it is not invested in speed. Dragonite gets access to a lot of the speed control moves (Icy wind, Thunder Wave, Tailwind). I ended up choosing Tailwind because only certain pokemon get access to this move. Dragonite's job is to get a Tailwind up and deal somewhat strong Draco Meteors. In Tailwind, 60 speed Evs get to 108 speed stat which is fast enough to outspeed Choice Scarf Landorus-T which also outspeeds relevant dragons. Its partners need to abuse Tailwind and Storng Draco support. Ice Beam and Rock Slide are just a coverage moves. Protect allows Dragonite to make plays and keep its Multiscale for another turn.
Potential partners:
  • Mega-Kangaskhan
  • Excadrill
  • Thundurus-I
  • Amoonguss/Clefable
  • Terrakion
  • Sylveon
  • Bisharp
  • Heatran
  • Bulky Water Types  (Swampert/Rotom-Wash etc)
  • Fake Out support
Threats to Dragonite:
  • Kangaskhan (Mega) - The main reason why Dragonite is not the best dragon  KappaHD. Fake Out breaks Multiscale and does not allow Tailwind to get up and Mega-Kangaskhan hits 2 times breaking Multiscale on first hit. Protect is probably the best counter to this. But Dragonite cannot really 2OHKO Mega-Kangaskhan without a Weakness Policy boost
  • Sylveon/Hydreigon/Garchomp/Landorus-T/etc anything with Super-Effective moves since Dragonite really cannot survive Super-Effective attacks without multiscale
  • Mamoswine - usually carries Icicle Spear which OHKOs
  • Opponents speed control ( T-wave, Icy wind, Trick Room, Tailwind) makes outspeeding Dragonite even easier
  • Doubling into Dragonite to break Multiscale and OHKO such as Fake Out Mega-Kangaskhan and Sylveon Hyper Voice / Hydreigon Draco Meteor

Suggestions and Comments are welcomed.
