This is one of the more popular sets in the current metagame, able to deal tons of damage while survive attacks such as a Double Edge from Jolly Mega Kang, and Jolly Mega Salamence with this ev spread. Earth Power is a special Ground type move and has a chance to KO pokemon such as Terrakion, Heatran, and Bisharp. Scald is the icon water type move able to deal tons of damage to pokemon such as Talonflame. Then Ice Beam, able to KO threats such as Landorus, and Mega Salamence. Finally Protect to shield Gastrodon from taking damage. Storm Drain will absorb all those water type moves.

Potential Teammates include but aren't limited too:
  • Fire Types(or any pokemon weak to water): Gastrodon's Storm Drain ability can redirect water attack and usew the attack to raise its special attack, the only thing is moves like surf or water spout still hits your ally so be weary.
  • Hard Hitters: Gastrodon can help draw attention due to his bulky nature and allow your other pokemon deal alot of damage

Possible Threats include but aren't limited too:
  • Grass Type: Obviously Grass types are a big threat to gastrodon some amoongus can KO based on there EV spread, and most Venusuars can KO gastrodon
  • Stall Pokemon: Alot of Pokemon like Cresselia can easily take Gastrodon's attacks and just heal up after

Other Notable Moves:
  • Icy Wind: Able to hit both opponents and slow down you're opponents
  • Acid Armor: Raises Defence by two stages
  • Stockpile: Raises Defence and Special Defence
  • Recover: Allows Gastrodon to restore Heal Points

Other Notable Items:
  • Focus Sash/Ridon Berry: Makes sure those grass type moves and other moves dont KO you
  • Assault Vest: Althought not having protect could be bad having more Special Defense could help alot

I hope this set helped, there are many other sets that will work for your team  Smile

I love gastrodon so much in the current meta and i definitely feel like it has a niche. It is 100% underrated for how good it is. Definitely gonna be using this set on upcoming teams. One thing though, maybe add Trick Room Setters to potential teammates, as gastrodon is one of the slowest mons in the meta it can take full advantage.

Winning a Pokemon battle is not so much about being a step ahead of your opponent but rather being 2 steps behind them
