Oh Garchomp. Generation six was not kind to you. It brought fairies into existence, and now we all fear Sylveon's Hyper Voice. Your Mega unfortunately loses 10 points in speed (if only those ten points didn't go to special attack...), however, everything else is boosted to rediculous proportions. Also, lets just look at the design. Regular Garchomp looks cool, even if his shiny is a bit lackluster. Now, with Mega Garchomp, the coolness factor gets turned up to 11. Not to mention its shiny form, WHICH IS PANK!!! SO AMAZING!!!!!!!11!!!!!one!!!!2

Type: Dragon/Ground
Weaknesses: Ice (x4), Fairy (x2), Dragon (x2)
Resistances: Fire (x.5), Rock (x.5), Poison (x.5)
Immunities: Electric
Abilities: Sand Veil -During a sandstorm, the evasion of a Pokémon with this Ability is increased by 25%. A Pokémon with this Ability will take no damage from the sandstorm if it otherwise would.

Rough Skin (Hidden Ability) - When a Pokémon with this Ability is hit by a move that makes contact, the attacking Pokémon loses 1/8 of its own maximum HP.
If a Pokémon with this Ability is hit by a multi-strike move that makes contact (such as Fury Swipes), each hit will activate this Ability. If Rough Skin causes both the Pokémon with this Ability and the attacking Pokémon to faint, then the attacking Pokémon will faint first.

Sand Force (Mega Ability) - During a sandstorm, Sand Force increase the power of Rock-, Ground-, and Steel-type moves used by the Pokémon with this Ability by 30%. A Pokémon with this Ability will take no damage from the sandstorm if it otherwise would.

Base Stats (Pre-Mega): 108 HP/ 130 Atk/ 95 Def/ 80 SpA/ 85 SpD/ 102 Spe
Base Stats (Post-Mega): 108 HP/ 170 Atk/ 115 Def/ 120 SpA/ 95 SpD/ 92 Spe

Garchomp-Mega @ Garchompite
Ability: Rough Skin
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Atk / 84 SpD / 44 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Protect
- Rock Slide

This is my favorite Mega Garchomp set. I have played around with the EVs for hours, and I feel like this is the ideal moveset for my team. Let me start off by explaining the speed EVs. Basically, I wanted to outspeed a Jolly Choice Scarf Landorus-Therian under Tailwind, and I do. Of course, if you don't run Tailwind on your team, you shouldn't run any speed EVs at all, there simply isn't anything to outspeed without removing even more attack EVs. The starting ability should be Rough Skin, just in case you want to switch into an attack, but if you can't get your hands on Rough Skin, it doesn't matter. I honestly haven't utilized the pre mega ability anyways. I chose to run Outrage over Dragon Claw because the damage difference is extreme, and without full investment, Garchomp needs all the damage he can get. Earthquake is a very powerful STAB attack, and every Garchomp should learn it, no questions. Rock Slide is the last move for coverage, I will list other alternatives below. Before we look at calculations, lets all admire how amazing shiny Mega Garchomp looks, I'll wait. Done? Good. Here are some numbers:

Offensive

All of these calculations are in doubles unless otherwise specified.

Outrage:
128+ Atk Mega Garchomp Outrage vs. 252 HP / 100 Def Mega Kangaskhan: 115-136 (54.2 - 64.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
128+ Atk Mega Garchomp Outrage vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Salamence: 204-242 (120 - 142.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
-1 128+ Atk Mega Garchomp Outrage vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Landorus-T: 93-111 (56.3 - 67.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
128+ Atk Mega Garchomp Outrage vs. 244 HP / 108 Def Thundurus: 147-174 (79.4 - 94%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
128+ Atk Mega Garchomp Outrage vs. 236 HP / 140 Def Milotic: 130-154 (65 - 77%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
128+ Atk Mega Garchomp Outrage vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Cresselia: 82-97 (36.1 - 42.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Earthquake:
128+ Atk Mega Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Heatran: 220-264 (111.1 - 133.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
128+ Atk Mega Garchomp Earthquake vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Kangaskhan: 79-94 (43.6 - 51.9%) -- 13.3% chance to 2HKO
-1 128+ Atk Mega Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 40 Def Mega Mawile: 84-102 (53.5 - 64.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
128+ Atk Mega Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0- Def Mega Metagross: 122-146 (65.2 - 78%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
128+ Atk Mega Garchomp Earthquake vs. 188 HP / 68 Def Sylveon: 102-120 (52.5 - 61.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
128+ Atk Mega Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 100 Def Aegislash-Shield: 104-126 (62.2 - 75.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Rock Slide: It OHKOs Talonflame and Charizard, what more do you need? It does basically nothing else.

Protect:
0- Atk Mega Garchomp Protect vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Primal Groudon: 1470-1730 (11307.6 - 13307.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
I totally didn't fabricate this stat at all, totally.

Defensive:

This is also in doubles unless otherwise stated.

252+ SpA Life Orb Pixilate Sylveon Hyper Voice vs. 252 HP / 84 SpD Mega Garchomp: 179-213 (83.2 - 99%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
This is the calculation I built everything off of. I wanted to live a Life Orb Sylveon Hyper Voice. Of course, Choice Specs is different...
252+ SpA Choice Specs Pixilate Sylveon Hyper Voice vs. 252 HP / 84 SpD Mega Garchomp: 210-248 (97.6 - 115.3%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO
To make it a 6.3% chance (my margin of error) it would take 236 EVs into SpD, and that is not something I am willing to do. Now, for other stats:
252+ SpA Life Orb Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 84 SpD Mega Garchomp: 105-125 (48.8 - 58.1%) -- 94.9% chance to 2HKO
252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 84 SpD Mega Garchomp: 81-96 (37.6 - 44.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Garchomp: 67-81 (31.1 - 37.6%) -- 85.3% chance to 3HKO
132+ SpA Milotic Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 84 SpD Mega Garchomp: 164-196 (76.2 - 91.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Garchomp: 129-153 (60 - 71.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Mega Salamence Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 84 SpD Mega Garchomp: 204-240 (94.8 - 111.6%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Garchomp: 145-172 (67.4 - 80%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Return vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Garchomp: 114-135 (53 - 62.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Conkeldurr Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Garchomp: 180-212 (83.7 - 98.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Tyranitar Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 84 SpD Mega Garchomp: 176-208 (81.8 - 96.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Garchomp: 97-114 (45.1 - 53%) -- 28.9% chance to 2HKO
252+ SpA Expert Belt Zapdos Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 84 SpD Mega Garchomp: 168-202 (78.1 - 93.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Other Options:
  • Iron Head - It is a good move to kill fairies, and it is a definite alternative to Rock Slide if you aren't worried about Talonflame or Charizard. However, unless you have Sandstorm, it won't OHKO Sylveon.

  • Stone Edge - A stronger, albeit less accurate version of Stone Edge. It can work, but I would the accuracy can be a problem. I wouldn't use it, but you might be braver than me.

  • Fire Blast - Are you having trouble with Scizor/Ferrothorn? Well, Fire Blast could be an alternative. Just be aware that it won't OHKO Ferrothorn with the current set.

  • Draco Meteor - What are you, a Special Garchomp fan? Get out of here and never come back.

  • Iron Tail - Go sit with the people who like special Garchomp. The accuracy is just to bad to risk, I don't recommend it.

  • Dragon Claw/Dual Chop - I understand where you are coming from. You can stay in the cool kids corner, away from all those special Garchomp scrubs. I just don't feel like the damage is enough. With the bulk heavy metagame, a physical attacker really needs to at least be getting 2HKOs, and neither of these attacks will do that.

  • Swords Dance - You like setup, don't you? I like you, have a cookie. I opted not for setup on this set, but I love SD Garchomp in doubles, especially next to Togekiss/Togetic

Good Teammates:
  • Cresselia - DuckHuntSwan here has several things Mega Garchomp likes: Speed control, Helping Hand, and Levitate. If you thought Lando-Cress was a terrifying open, thing about MegaChomp-Cress. I bet you just had a nightmare or <deleted for inappropriate content>.

  • Zapdos - Zapdos is crazy bulky, and it can set up Tailwind. Also, it flies, and has a powerful thunderbolt to try and rid the world off annoying water type Pokemon carrying Ice Beam.

  • Togekiss/Togetic - Basically, it has tailwind and redirect support.

Things Mega Garchomp Doesn't Like:
  • ANYTHING WITH AN ICE TYPE ATTACK WHICH IS LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE POKEMON IN THE METAGAME!

  • Faster Dragon Type Pokemon

  • Rotom Wash - Not only can it burn Garchomp, but it is a pain in the *** to kill, even with Outrage.

  • I am too lazy to write anything else here. You know what Garchomp does and does not like.

Try Trick Room Mega Chomp with TR Cress and Tyranitar to get the same up and just watch everything die.... As for the Sword Dance set, I'd use it once any everything died an EQ. This is factoring in the most of my opponents Pokemon where grounded so +2 Earthquake with the Sand Force can do this:

+2 76+ Atk Sand Force Mega Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Steelix in Sand: 192-228 (105.4 - 125.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+2 76+ Atk Sand Force Mega Garchomp Earthquake vs. 212 HP / 60 Def Kangaskhan in Sand: 223-264 (107.7 - 127.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+2 76+ Atk Sand Force Mega Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Shield in Sand: 284-336 (170 - 201.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

I might just have to steal borrow that idea from you.

Amazing spread! you can ask me other than delta how well it is as i did recently used it in a team of mine Wink Thanks for letting me know your spread!
just a reminder you waste '4' EV's in one of your stats by splitting them in four stats, plz pour by the leftovers four into Def stat.

Scizor Could Be A great potential partner for Garchomp, especially if you don't mega first turn, as you protect, and set up tailwind with this stupid set that I run:

Scizor @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 100 Atk / 72 Def / 84 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Tailwind
- Bullet Punch
- Feint
- Roost

It fairs fairly well against Garchomp's counter's/checks, especially sylveon, gardevoir, as shown here:

Sylveon
Level 100
Defesnively  Defensively
252+ SpA Choice Specs Pixilate Sylveon Hyper Voice vs. 244 HP / 104 SpD Scizor: 111-131 (32.4 - 38.3%) -- 97.9% chance to 3HKO
Offensively
100+ Atk Life Orb Technician Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 56 HP / 200 Def Sylveon: 276-328 (80 - 95%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
100+ Atk Life Orb Technician Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Sylveon: 359-424 (91.1 - 107.6%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO

Level 50

Offensive
100+ Atk Life Orb Technician Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Sylveon: 187-221 (92.5 - 109.4%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO
100+ Atk Life Orb Technician Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Sylveon: 187-221 (92.5 - 109.4%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO

Gardevoir:

Defensive
252 SpA Gardevoir Hyper Voice vs. 244 HP / 104 SpD Scizor: 20-24 (11.3 - 13.6%) -- possible 8HKO
Offensive:
100+ Atk Life Orb Technician Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Gardevoir: 187-221 (129.8 - 153.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
while burned:
+ Atk Life Orb Technician burned Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Gardevoir: 94-110 (65.2 - 76.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Garchomp would have to protect on the first turn, but it can easily setup the tailwind then take out the gardevoir with Bullet Punch.

Weavile:
Defensive:
252 Atk Weavile Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 244 HP / 72 Def Scizor: 73-87 (41.4 - 49.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Knock Off is the Only thing that would really harm Scizor, doing less than 50% when knocking off an item, whereas scizor can ealisy block it w/ bullet punch and then setup a tailwind.

I'm more than sure that this isn't perfect, (this being me and the set) but I can see this working.
EDIT: Also, sorry this is soo long, just trying to prove that this set works.
