[VGC] Mimikyu Team Suggestions
#1
Hey everyone,
Sun and Moon is the first Pokemon game where I have started breeding competitively (crazy, I know!), I have had some success breeding some mons.
now I would like to start trying to breed a team for VGC 2017.
I would like the core to be Mimikyu, and I don't care about the other Pokemon (but would prefer to go without Tapus/UBs).
Basically, because I am so inexperienced with competitive battling, I am asking for a team suggestion to follow.
Thanks everyone

@73cupsofspiders2, here's a link to how Mimikyu can be used in VGC 2017 http://pokemonforever.com/Thread-VGC-VGC...m-Movesets. Also, have a quick read at the guidelines, pay close attention to #5 http://pokemonforever.com/Announcement-C...ticipating

@73cupsofspiders2, don't sweat it. If you really want to build a VGC 2017 team around Mimikyu, but don't know where to begin this is a video Wolfey Glick did on how to use Mimikyu:

Alright Eugenio did list out some guides from Wolfey and here regarding some Mimikyu movesets and a good overview of its roles in the VGC format. Will like to say that Mimiyku is one the best Trick Room setters in the format given its Disguise ability and practically forces the opponent to either double target or use Taunt/Roar if they those utility options. Mimikyu has three strong immunity to Fighting-, Normal- and Dragon-type which are all rather strong offensive types which the Mimikyu can switch in thanks to its Ghost/Fairy-typing. Going back to Disguise, thanks to its high moderate speed, Mimikyu can at least get of an attack or setup before the opponent attacks it. Offensive coverage you don't really need anything else aside Play Rough and Shadow Claw as it hits everything neutrally, though it can run Shadow Sneak, but recommend it having Sword Dance to boost up first.

Frankly Mimikyu works well in hybrid Trick Room teams where it has teammates with moderately slow speeds to outspeed far faster things such as Tapu Koko, Pheromosa, Garchomp, etc if needed. In terms of cores, you can try a Mimikyu team with some slow Pokemon like Gigalith, Araquanid, and Snorlax which all three take advantage of Trick Room. Intimidate support is a must for Mimikyu has it doesn't have the best defensive stats, so Arcanine is a good pair as well. One thing I forgot to mention is Fake Out support is really appreciated as it prevents the double target situation and forces the opponent to really on Roar/Taunt to prevent it. Fake Out users like Hariyama and Salazzle can assist Mimikyu in setting up Trick Room while dealing with some major Steel- and Fairy-type Pokemon with their coverage.
