#1

Base Stats
HP: 100
Attack: 110
Defense 90
Special Attack 85
Special Defense 90
Speed 60

Stats when Mega evolved
HP: 100
Attack: 150
Defense: 110
Special Attack: 95
Special Defense: 110
Speed: 70

Swampert is a very good pokemon in the VGC meta game but it is very over looked. Although having its only weakness being a x4 Weakness to grass(being its only weakness) Swampert lacks recovery moves. Its water/ground counterpart Gastrodon has access to recovery moves and an Immuity to water (If storm drain ability is in use.) With this being said, by no means does this mean Swampert is not the better choice than Gastrodon. Swampert is very versatile having the highest base stat total of all starter pokemon. Its bulky, its a good supporter, and most importainly its my favorite pokemon so dont hate on it or youre gonna  tjfRekt  kappa . Now with that being said lets get to some builds.

Support Swampert (Angel Miranda)
Ability: Torrent
Nature: Modest
Evs: 252 HP/4 Def/228 SpAtk/4 SpDef/20 Speed
- Scald
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam/ Icy Wind/ Protect
- Wide Guard/Protect

Angel Miranda makes this pokemon come out of the shadows to and be a threat. The STAB/Expert belt combination sets Swampert up to hit hard on super effective moves. 228 Special Attack also makes special Swampert viable. Scald and Earth Power are Swampert's best STAB special moves. Wide Guard is pretty necessary on Swampert to help protect from Hyper voice Sylveon and Salamence. Also it kinda walls Lando T as most run an Earthquake Rock Slide combo. Ice beam moves can also help. With ice being probably the best type in the VGC meta game. Ice beam is a powerful ice move that should be on every pokemon that gets it (Not really Kappa) and icy wind helps slow down pokemon such talonflame, Mega Kang, and Gengar that could pose as threats.

252+ Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Swampert: 178-213 (85.9 - 102.8%) -- 8.2% chance to OHKO

252+ Atk Landorus-T Superpower vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Swampert: 88-104 (42.5 - 50.2%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO

252 Atk Terrakion Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Swampert: 111-132 (53.6 - 63.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

0 SpA Amoonguss Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Swampert: 168-196 (81.1 - 94.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Swampert: 156-184 (75.3 - 88.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Mega Swampert (Physical Attacker)
Ability: Damp ----> Swift Swim
Nature: Adamant
Evs: 224 HP/52 Atk/40 Def/36 SpDef/156 Speed
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch/ Ice Beam/ Rock Slide
- Protect/ Wide Guard

Simple spread really, Waterfall and Earthquake for hard hitting STAB moves. 156 base speed is enough to outspeed a max speed timid Mega Sceptile in the rain, making it an easy OHKO with ice punch. Playing around with the set a little bit, Ice beam might be a better move than Ice Punch so Lando T cant give you the -1 attack. Rock Slide is a good option as well because lets face it, Rock Slide Flinches run VGC Kappa. Wide Guard might be a better move over protect because Hyper voice and what I said earlier.

Offensive:
52+ Atk Mega Swampert Ice Punch vs. 164 HP / 4 Def Landorus-T: 200-236 (108.1 - 127.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

52+ Atk Mega Swampert Ice Punch vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Sceptile: 232-276 (158.9 - 189%) -- guaranteed OHKO

52+ Atk Mega Swampert Earthquake vs. 132 HP / 20 Def Heatran: 256-304 (139.8 - 166.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Defensive:

132+ SpA Choice Specs Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 224 HP / 36 SpD Mega Swampert: 145-172 (71.4 - 84.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 224 HP / 40 Def Mega Swampert: 135-160 (66.5 - 78.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Landorus-T Superpower vs. 224 HP / 40 Def Mega Swampert: 73-86 (35.9 - 42.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 224 HP / 40 Def Mega Swampert: 67-81 (33 - 39.9%) -- 100% chance to 3HKO

As you can see Swampert is a good Physical sweeper and packs a punch while also taking a hit in return.

Trick Room Mega Swampert
Ability: Torrent/Damp -----> Swift Swim
Nature: Brave/Relaxed/Quiet
Evs: 252 HP/ 64Atk/76 Def/48 SpAtk/68 SpDef
- Waterfall
- Earth Power/Hammer Arm
- Ice Beam
- Protect

Trick room Swampert can be bulky and a power house. Trick Room helps Swampert take advantage of its lousy base 60 speed. Waterfall is good STAB blah blah blah Kappa. Hammer arm can help lower Swampert's speed so its even faster in trick room and Ice beam is so Lando T cant do anything about it. Earth Power can be good attacking your opponent without attacking your partner.

252 Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 76 Def Mega Swampert: 128-154 (61.8 - 74.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 68 SpD Mega Swampert: 153-181 (73.9 - 87.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

0 SpA Amoonguss Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 68 SpD Mega Swampert: 132-156 (63.7 - 75.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Tough Claws Mega Metagross Zen Headbutt vs. 252 HP / 76 Def Mega Swampert: 84-100 (40.5 - 48.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252 Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 76 Def Mega Swampert: 124-147 (59.9 - 71%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

All in all Swampert is a good pokemon. Although it lacks recovery, its great for support while also dealing good damage. Swampert can be pretty good if used correctly and should be used. Dont hate on it Kappa .

Heavy actually brought the trick room idea to my attention. It was a good idea the more I thought about it Smile

Great builds Mudkip! Mega-Swampert has kind of fallen off the usage list, but I feel like it has some hidden potential, not to mention it's still a threat no matter what people say! Ice beam for Lando is a great idea as well, because of Lando's poor special defensive stat. I also feel like so many people forget that Swampert has access to wide guard.
