Okay I added all the friend codes on the chart(that worked) and nothing appeared when I opened the game.Did I screw up somewhere?

Got it. THERE'S my problem.No, they haven't.So does the Friend thing appear on their 3DS automatically?Also,just in case, I feel I should mention that you're one of the MANY prople I added.
