Very true. Support moves are always recommended to cripple your opponent, and even abilities can do such like Intimidate. Will-o-Wisp, Taunt, Tailwind, Encore, Icy Wind (which is more attack/support like Scald and Fake Out) are all very good moves that can help you significantly in your battles.
