I feel as though when it comes with Mega Gengar the offensive sets are still significantly better with a couple support moves like Will-O-Wisp or Disable. When people think of Mega Gengar they usually think of "Perish Trap" or with "Encore-Disable" often pairing with Whimsicott or other Enocres users. Mega Gengar still has a monsterous 170 special attack so it can still hit its targets really hard with the combination of Shadow Ball, Icy Wind, or Sludge Bomb.
Personally I would like to see more offensive Mega Gengars teams built around teammates with Snarl/Intimidate/Taunt so whenever it has the nessecary support to handle the two Pokemon it traps. If you can just completely shut down one of those Pokemon, then Mega Gengar and its ally can just focus on its other Pokemon.
