Sniped means some random person traded with you on the GTS before Aether got a chance to give you the right pokemon. It can be bothersome if left unchecked. Both for you and Aether. He'll waste time looking for your deposited pokemon because he is genuinely trying to give you it meanwhile you have no idea its already been traded away.
