[RATE MY TEAM] VGC 15 Sand Team
#1
This is a VGC15 team I built a couple weeks ago, and I have been using it to quite some success. My current win ratio with this team is around 85%.

Excadrill @ Focus Sash
Ability: Sand Rush
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rock Slide
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
- Protect

With rain teams becoming increasingly popular, I wanted to base my team around some sort of weather.
Excadrill-Tyranitar seemed to fit the bill perfectly. Excadrill's speed is doubled in sandstorm, this coupled with its high attack makes it
a force to be reckoned with. I chose Focus Sash over Life Orb because the 30% boost of the Life Orb didn't
pick up any more KOs than a non-boosted item. Focus Sash has helped me out in tight situations many more times
than a Life Orb could ever dream of.

Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rock Slide
- Crunch
- Superpower
- Ice Punch

Every weather team needs its weather setter. Tyranitar is by far the best Sand setter in the current meta.
I chose Scarf-Tar over Mega Tyranitar due to the fact that this Scarf-tar outspeeds and KOs many common staples in
the meta, such as, Terrakion, Bisharp, Mega Charizard Y, Assault Vest Landorus T, Salamence, and Mega Kangaskhan
when paired with a Rock Slide from Excadrill.

Milotic @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Competitive
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 36 SpA / 4 SpD / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
- Icy Wind
- Scald
- Recover
- Protect

With Intimidate Pokemon running rampant in the Meta, I needed something to keep them at bay.
My EV spread allows Milotic to survive a Double Edge from an adamant Mega Kangaskan, and KO
with scald after the recoil. I chose Icy Wind over Ice Beam because my team has no real means of speed
control outside of Sand Rush.

Ludicolo @ Assault Vest
Ability: Swift Swim
Level: 50
EVs: 160 HP / 240 Def / 108 SpD
Bold Nature
- Fake Out
- Scald
- Giga Drain
- Ice Beam

While testing the team, I found that it was having a tough time against both bulky Water
types and Rain teams, which Ludicolo counters with Swift Swim and Giga Drain, respectively.
The Fake Out pressure is nice too.

Salamence-Mega @ Salamencite
Ability: Intimidate -> Aerilate
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Protect
- Dragon Pulse
- Hyper Voice
- Flamethrower

I needed a special attacker and a Mega. Here it is.

Talonflame @ Life Orb
Ability: Gale Wings
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 164 SpA / 92 Spe
Naive Nature
- Brave Bird
- Overheat
- Taunt
- Quick Guard

This is Se Jun Park's Worlds Talonflame set. It has just enough speed investment to block
Mega Kang's Fake Out. The End (Awkward Silence)
