A general use Pokemon isn't really a good thing. Very few strategies transfer from one format to the other. For example, Protect is a must on pretty much every VGC Pokemon while you see it on a lot less in singles.

@Squeab Same thing can be said for Wide Guard. I think the reason why protect isn't used a lot in singles is because protect is a waste of a turn IMO, whereas it is a great move in doubles. Another problem that can be run across is what Pokemon you use. Charizard is a common, so many people will have had made counter attacks for it, but if you use a less common one, like Blissey, not many people have seen Blissey in battle as much as Charizard which to me is a shame because Blissey and Milktank can take a lot of hits and if raised well can dish it right back out, meaning you can have an advantage, but how big is unknown. This is why I like Pokemon because even though you can figure out how to take out a Pokemon, it could mean nothing by simple snap of a finger.

Squeab, Again, my wording is unclear (English is my first language, I swear xD) I'm just not that good at phrasing things. I mean just for competitive but not VGC
Also, Is there a way to close the thread now? I think I've obtained enough people's opinions.
