"I think it's time we drop some Dracos" - Joey aka PokeaimMD
Despite it's X4 weakness to Fairy and a weakness to the strong Fighting type, Hydreigon can fit well on a lot of teams due to it's strong STAB attacks and coverage. With all of it's base stats at 90 or above, Hydreigon can be a versatile Pokemon, from flat out Special sweeper to a bulky support with options like tailwind at it's disposal. With the ability to fire off strong STAB Draco Meteors and hitting bulky Pokemon like Cresselia for Super Effective damage, Hydreigon is definitely something to consider for your team.
Also Shiny Hydreigon is ugly. Don't ever use that thing
Type: Dark/Dragon
Base Stats: 92 HP / 105 Attack / 90 Defense / 125 Special Attack / 90 Special Defense / 98 Speed
Weaknesses: Fighting (X2), Bug (X2), Ice (X2), Dragon (X2), Fairy (X2)
Resistances: Ghost (X0.5), Fire (X0.5), Water (X0.5), Grass (X0.5), Electric (X0.5), Dark (X0.5)
Immunities: Ground, Psychic
Ability: Levitate - Levitate renders the user immune to most Ground-type moves (excepting Sand Attack and Thousand Arrows), Spikes, Toxic Spikes, Misty Terrain, Grassy Terrain, Electric Terrain, Arena Trap, and damage from Sky Drop. These immunities can be lost if the user is holding an Iron Ball, is under the effects of Gravity or Ingrain, has been hit by Smack Down or Thousand Arrows, or if the opponent has Mold Breaker, Teravolt, or Turboblaze.
Life Orb / Specs set
Hydreigon @ Life Orb / [Choice Specs]
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 28 HP / 192 SpA / 36 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Earth Power / Flamethrower
- Protect / [Flamethrower]
Just a simple set. The HP and Defense investment allow Hydreigon to survive a Timid Max SpA Dragon Pulse from Mega Salamence. Timid nature with Max Speed to outspeed Modest Nature Hydreigon and OHKO with Draco Meteor, and at worst, speed tie with other Timid Max Speed Hydreigon. Move choices are also self explanitory. Draco Meteor and Dark Pulse for strong STAB attacks, Earth Power for steel types, specifically Heatran and Flamethrower for even more coverage against things kike Scizor and Ferrothorn.
Life Orb or Choice Specs are the items of choice to get as much damage as possible from Hydreigon. Note You can of course run Modest 252 /252 if you feel like it suits your team better. Naturally a modest nature will give more damage output. A choice specs Draco Meteor with 252+ SpA has an 87.5% chance to OHKO 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Kangaskhan.

Bulky Set
Hydreigon @ Life Orb / [Choice Specs]
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 236 HP / 92 Def / 140 SpA / 4 SpD / 36 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Earth Power / Flamethrower
- Protect / [Flamethrower]
Compared to the previous set, you're obviously not going to be dealing as much damage due the the fact we've dropped a lot of SpA investment. We do however take hits a lot better. With the HP and Defense investment, Hydreigon survives a Low Kick from Jolly Max Attack Mega Kangaskhan. The HP and Special Defense allow it to live Max Special attack Modest Dragon Pulse from Mega Mence, 36 Speed EVs allow it to outspeed Adamant Max Speed Bisharp by 1 point and the rest was put into SpA to maximise damage output.

It's probably best for him to explain. You can read his team report Here
Some Benchmarks;
- OHKOs 252HP / 4 SpD Mega Mawile
- Outspeeds Positive nature base 70s such as Breloom and Bisharp
- Survives Superpower from Adamant Max attack Landorus-T
Potential Teammates include, but aren't limited to;
- Mega Metagross - Hydreigon has amazing synergy with Mega Metagross, being able to take care of things that threaten it such as Aegislash, while Metagross takes out any Fairies that threaten Hydreigon.
- Thundurus can be a huge help for the bulky spreads by spreading paralysis, allowing Hydreigon to outspeed the opposition
- Other speed control such as Icy Wind from Pokemon like Milotic or Tailwind from Suicune enabling Hydreigon to outspeed potential threats
- Redirection from Amoonguss, which resists Fighting type attacks. It does however share an Ice weakness with Hydreigon
Threats include, but aren't limited to;
- Terrakion - Able to outspeed Hydreigon and OHKO with Close Combat
- Mega Kangaskhan (When is this Not a threat - Thanks to ORAS move tutors, Kangaskhan now get access to Low Kick wich will OHKO most Hydreigons especially if it's Adamant.
- Sylveon - I think we all know why... Pixilate Hyper Voice
- Mega Gardevoir - Pixilate Hyper Voice...again.
- Rain Teams - carrying a combo of Politoed and a Swift Swimmer, such as Ludicolo, both of which usually carry Ice Beam
Other Notable Moves
- Taunt - Can be useful on the bulkier sets to stop things like spore from Amoonguss
- Reflect - Halves physical damage done to the user and ally Pokemon
- Fire Blast - A strong coverage move with more power than Flamethrower, but at the cost of accuracy
- Thunder Wave - More likely to be used on bulkier support Hydreigon, Thunder Wave will give your team a form of speed control allowing your party to outspeed the opposition
- Swagger - The best move in the game according to Rogue and Naitre . Raises the opponents attack by 2 stages and confuses them
- Flash Cannon - Coverage against Fairies, although I doubt you'd want to stay in since Hydreigon is X4 weak to Fairy
- Tailwind - Another form of speed control. Doubles the party's speed for 4 turns.
- Roost - Lets Hydreigon Recover up to half of it's max HP
Other Notable Items
- Chople Berry - Reduces damage taken from a super effective Fighting type attack
- Choice Scarf - Will allow Hydreigon to outspeed this like Mega Salamence and OHKO with Draco Meteor
- Roseli Berry - Reduces damage taken from a super effective Fairy type attack
- Sitrus Berry - Helps bulky support sets stay around for longer
- Assault Vest - Allows Hydreigon to take Special hits better
Thanks for reading. Hopefully these sets will be of some use and as always feel free to adjust EVs to your own liking :D
