#1
[Image: mandibuzz.gif]

Stats: 110 HP, 65 Atk, 105 Def, 55 SpA, 95 SpD, 80 Spe
Abilities: Big Pecks (Prevents Pokemon from lowering this Pokemon's Defense stat stage)
Overcoat (This Pokemon is immune to powder moves and damage from Sand and Hail)
Weak Armor (If a physical attack hits this Pokemon, Defense is lowered by 1, speed is raised by 1)

BUILD

Mandibuzz @ Leftovers/Sitrus Berry
Ability: Overcoat
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 188 Def / 40 SpA / 28 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Snarl
- Foul Play
- Roost
- Tailwind

Mandibuzz is a very bulky Pokemon and can be viable in VGC. Using the Overcoat ability ensures that those Spores from Amoonguss won't put you to a screeching halt when supporting your team. Also prevents chip damage that may result in Mandibuzz being removed earlier in the game.

Snarl is great for support and it also ensures that Mandibuzz will live a specs Hyper Voice from Sylveon 100% of the time with health left over. Foul Play is chosen for offensive since Mandibuzz has a poor attack stat and since Foul Play takes the opponents stat into consideration, it will be hitting Pokemon such as Landorus and Kangaskhan really hard. Roost is for HP recovery and cancelling out your Flying typing to prevent super effective hits from slower Pokemon and Tailwind obtains speed control in favor of your team.

Mandibuzz works best with Pokemon such as Landorus-T, Venusaur, Kangaskhan, Metagross and Excadrill. You need to watch out for Pokemon such as Bisharp, Terrakion, Virizion, Mawile, Azumarill and Mega-Gardevoir because they can take Mandibuzz out of commission with little effort.

Calculations

252+ Atk Landorus-T Rock Slide vs. 252 HP / 188 Def Mandibuzz: 62-74 (28.5 - 34.1%) -- 0.7% chance to 3HKO

Wow, this is so great, Marcusube! I actually just recently got a Mandibuzz through the Wonder Trade and have been breeding to get a competitive one. This really inspires me to potentially give this little lady a try on Battle Spot, since I'm still tweaking my own team and am eyeballing Tailwind users. What are you, a mind reader!? :O

Quick question, though--doesn't Mandibuzz evolve from Vullaby at level 54? If that's the case, can there be a level 50 Mandibuzz? Just checking!

Thanks for always sharing such fascinating builds with the community! I can say that you've absolutely been a great resource for me (I am so in love with Cinccino and your build).

Thanks for correcting that. I placed it at level 50 because in VGC all Pokemon are automatically set to 50 if they are at a higher level.

This is next level man. Love the idea of support Mandi but I don't like what abilities it has which is why I never used it. Even still this seems like it could have a place in 2015.

What would be your thoughts on Singles use? Yah or nah? Situational?

Mandibuzz is completely viable in OU atm considering it has access to Defog, Toxic, and can even U-Turn out on a targets. Personally I like using a Mandibuzz consistent of Defog, Roost, Foul Play, and U-Turn because threats like Mega Diancie, Rotom-W, Thundurus, and Raikou are a persistent pain to deal with. It's a good wall but remember special attacks are going to give Mandibuzz problems.

As far as VGC goes, Mandibuzz is a good call since it can provide STAB Foul Play and Tailwind support. Snarl is good support option but again my main concern are "super effective" special attackers like Rotom-W, Sylveon, and Thundurus/Zapdos will give Mandibuzz issues. On the plus side, Mandibuzz has a base 80 speed which can help it get off Snarl support against unsuspecting special attackers and give your side an artificial layer of special bulk. Overcoat is an amazing ability which prevents Mandibuzz from getting spored or even Rage Powder as well as gives Manduzz immunity to sand and hail damage. Most support Pokemon will likely get spored on but Mandibuzz can easily avoid these issues and either Tailwind or Foul Play its target immediately.
