[VGC] Questions: Stat drop Calculations:
#1
So this is an idiotic question (maybe) but this has been my mind for quite some time, that if there is a formula to use to actually calculate the stat drops or boosts. i mean i get it that a +2 stat is doubled, and a -2 is a stat halved. However there is that -1 or + 1 i can't figure out.
Why am i asking this? well, i want to aquire the use of icy wind. as if i ask that is it really efficient? what stat (numerical value) of speed will a pokemon reach at -1, so that i know if i outspeed or underspeed, and make better moves in my battles.
So is there a way? a formula to exactly calculate? Hope you can help me! Bye for now!

Just search for the stat modifiers and you'll see how stat changes are done. Remember that accuracy and evasion are calculated seperately from the other stats.

That 360 no scope kappa

Oh the game ever since gen 3 has been program to calculated based on the fraction 2/2 which is essentially 1 or "+0" if you think about it. Usually for minus drops the value of the denominator is increased by 1 but the numerator is still at 2. The reverse is true for positive stat modification as the numerator increases by 1 and the denominator stays the same at 2. I honestly can't calculate evasion and accuracy drops but bulbapedia can show you the simple calculations.

No problem :]

And of course not. It took me a while to find out how stat boost / drops worked. Trying to gain more knowledge by asking a question is never idiotic <3

the only thing stupider than asking a "stupid question" is not asking and never knowing
