When this mega was announced, nobody was expecting it. And ever since this mega was released, I've wanted to do things with it. Unfortunately, because of better megas, lack of reliable recovery, not a good speed tier, and many other things, this poor Pokemon sunk to NU. In addition to this, this Pokemon's stats are very... rounded? Its attack and special attack are the same, and so are its defenses. And in its mega form, it just gets +40 in both defenses and +20 in Special Attack (way to get creative, Game Freak  Dodgy ). Which isn't bad, it just means it doesn't have a particular thing it does exceptionally well. Luckily, it does have some redeeming qualities, and I hope to show those qualities, and see how far this little guy (or girl? Probably) can go!

Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Draining Kiss
- Thunder Wave/ Baby-Doll Eyes/ Play Nice
- Protect

I decided on this set for a number of reasons. I gave it Thunder Wave, because it isn't exactly the fastest little guy on the field, so speed control on him is a good choice. If you already have, say, a Thundurus or other speed control, another good option is Baby-Doll Eyes or Play Nice. They both do the same thing, which is lower the opponent's attack by -1, the differences being Baby-Doll Eyes as a +1 priority, which helps because of above mentioned speed, or Play Nice hit through a Protect, which can catch an unsuspecting Pokemon off guard. The main idea is to sit there, get Calm Minds up, and from there, use Draining Kiss for damage and sustain, and Protect because, hey, it's doubles. Use Protect. It also has a nice niche as a Cleric, because it's ability Healer has a 30% chance of healing the partner's status condition, so you have no need to carry Heal Bell. 30% might not seem like a whole lot, but when you think that that's the chance of Focus Miss missing, it seems a lot better Kappa. Another thing about this set to note ,it can take 1 Return or Double Edge from a max attack adamant Mega Kang, including Fake Out Damage. Try to Paralyze it on that turn, and then get the partner to take it from there.

Hard Support Wall
Audino-Mega @ Audinite
Ability: Healer
EVs: 252 HP / 156 Def / 100 SpD
Calm Nature
- Heal Pulse
- Helping Hand
- Wish
- Sweet Kiss/ Swagger

The idea of this set it to go out there and support the daylights out of the Pokemon next to you. This is a more Special Defensive set, to counter out some of the Sludge Bombs. It has Wish for its own [limited] sustain, and Heal Pulse to keep its partner in the game. It has no attacking moves, other than Sweet Kiss or Swagger, which end up confusing the target. And when he has nothing left he can do, just use Helping Hand to give the partner that boost the need to pick up a KO. Another thing i was tossing around is using swagger on your own partner if they are a physical attacker, and hoping that the healer will kick in and fix that up at the end of the turn. That takes a lot of luck, but saves you a turn from safeguard and can help in many situations. But if it has no partner, it's kind of over.

Defensive Calculations

  • 252+ SpA Ludicolo Hydro Pump vs. +1 252 HP / 100+ SpD Mega Audino: 70-84 (17 - 20.4%) -- possible 5HKO
  • 252 SpA Aerilate Mega Salamence Hyper Voice vs. +1 252 HP / 100+ SpD Mega Audino: 84-99 (20.4 - 24.1%) -- guaranteed 5HKO
  • 252 SpA Life Orb Thundurus Thunderbolt vs. +1 252 HP / 100+ SpD Mega Audino: 87-103 (21.2 - 25.1%) -- 0% chance to 4HKO
  • 252+ SpA Choice Specs Pixilate Sylveon Hyper Voice vs. +1 252 HP / 100+ SpD Mega Audino: 127-151 (30.9 - 36.8%) -- 68.6% chance to 3HKO
  • 252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Flash Cannon vs. +1 252 HP / 100+ SpD Mega Audino: 150-176 (36.5 - 42.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
  • 252+ Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Return vs. 252 HP / 156 Def Mega Audino: 193-229 (47 - 55.8%) -- 74.2% chance to 2HKO
  • 0 SpA Milotic Scald vs. +1 252 HP / 100+ SpD Mega Audino: 40-48 (9.7 - 11.7%) -- possible 9HKO

Other Useful Moves
Simple Beam- The target's Ability becomes Simple. At one point I had a strategy called "SimDino", where you simple beam into an Ampharos and use Cotton guard, can be great for getting stats up fast and use on Stored Power or Weakness Policy, but watch out for intimidate.
Encore- The target repeats its last move for 3 turns. Great for neutering an opponent or forcing a switch, but may not utalize it well because of speed stat.
Amnesia- Raises the user's Sp. Def by 2. I prefer Calm Mind over it for the Attack boost, but good for pure tank sets.
Yawn- Puts the target to sleep after 1 turn. Can force a switch or put an opponent to sleep.
Dream Eater- User gains 1/2 HP inflicted. Sleeping target only. Strong base power, good recovery, and can be combo'd well with Yarn or another sleeping move. Wastes a turn on the wake up, however.
Light Screen/ Reflect- For 5 turns, special/ physical damage to allies is halved, receptively. Dual Screens can be good for protecting the team from all sorts of damage. Better utalized by a Prankster Pokemon, however.
Trick Room- So this is a big one. Trick Room makes it so that for 5 turns, slower Pokemon move first. This is one of the best ways to take use of Audino's speed stat, and can work well with the Calm Mind and Support-y mechanic with a team of slow mons. However, Cresselia exists. Cresselia can fill almost all of the roles Audino does, except having a slightly smaller defense and more weaknesses. It can be a devastating Trick Room setter, however, Audino is slower, meaning it would beat out a Cresselia in a Trick Room. I myself have never used Trick Room, so if you have any opinion on it, please let me know.

Thank you for reading, and I hope this helps If you have any feedback or suggestions, please let me know so I can add it to the build. Thank you! Smile

Awesome job Beast, ive alway loved the design of mega audino but i was never able to find a good use for him,
btw you might wanna add some pokemon that work well/work against Mega Audino
all hr (in between in "[]") makes the line like this that shinks and grows based on the resolution

Thanks for the info. I'll probably going to add that, I was just sort of waiting for Marc to show up with some feedback first :P

Mega Audino actually has 80 Special Attack.

Audino's niche is to be a support Pokemon. As such, you want to avoid making a set that relies heavily on status moves especially with Pokemon like Thundurus running around.

The Calm Mind + Draining Kiss set is more for a singles tank. Baby Doll Eyes is a nice touch but not sure as to how much of a well spent turn that would be since it only drops the Attack stat by one stage of one opponent. Thunder Wave, however, is good for speed control

Not having any offensive moves might cripple you in the late game and relying on Swagger for passive damage is a huge 50/50 that you don't want to get yourself into every game

For a Mega Audino set, you need to be more proactive. Trick Room stops you from getting flinched by faster opponents plus it guarantees Audino will be moving first in most cases. Safeguard allows you to stop status from crippling your team (combine that with Swagger and your team mates start to hit like a truck). Simple Beam allows you to stop those Perish Trap teams by removing Shadow Tag and Prankster, making it easier to swat Gengar/Gothitelle without losing your mons. Yawn is also good for getting the jump on Pokemon forcing them to either switch or fall asleep

Offensively, you only need Dazzling Gleam, Hyper Voice, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball or Psychic. Base 80 special attack is still good for picking up chip damage.

You can also play around with things like Skill Swap, screens, Encore, Gravity etc.

The most important thing is to have a way to deal with Pranksters, Pokemon that carry status moves, primarily ones that put you to sleep or disable your moves and very bulky Pokemon. Audino does have great potential, the only thing that'd make me walk away from using it is the fact that there are better options for each role it plays and that item slot could be better used for a stronger Mega

Another small thing Mega Audino can play, is a calm mind rest talk set, that works pretty well for singles. Calm mind, sleep talk and rest, with dazzling gleam, and it gets really hard to take out. I beat an opposing delphox in a calm mind war with this, and it is pretty fun to use Smile
It works as a defensive wall, and a set up sweeper that can take advantage of slower, bulkier teams very nicely.

Mega- 103 HP/ 60 Attack/ 126 Defense/ 60 Special Attack/ 126 Special Defense/ 50 Speed
Nice set but you might want to change it the fact where 60 SpA +20 = 60 SpA
Also the damage calculations (offensive) say +1 52 SpA Mega Audino (No Move)
