Gallade can secure multiple one shots on a significant amount of the current top meta picks hit or at-least threatens them with super effective damage, making playing around him hinge on fast flying type moves or fairy types especially when he can eat up a common attack or 2 even after a close combat defense drop. More than anything i think he is just better than megas in tier 2 excluding maybe alakazam who is also borderline. Lopunny has a serious 4 move slot syndrome in my opinion where its quite frail so you want protect but you also want fake out + your 2 stabs and ice punch/another coverage move. In addition her stabs don't threaten as much of the meta as gallades do and gallade has more options for coverage. lopunny and garchomp mare my favorite megas but i have found a lot more success with gallade simple because of how many teams are forced to respect him. That said i prob do have him a tad high.
Absol has a very small niche as a mixed attacker capable of threatening specific targets in the meta with 1HKO's on Pokemon such as Charizard Y in addition to threatening hefty amounts of damage on to kang with a potential superpower, he also gets magic bounce as nice counter-play to moves such as spores paralyzes and burns. While not strong i feel he has the stats and the move pool to be usable without being a gimmick. Bannete on the other hand feels incredibly gimmicky to me as i don't feel prankster works well with his stats as you need to wait till turn 2 to become a prankster then you offer almost nothing another prankster doesn't have sounds like a pretty bad deal to me when other pranksters can hold sash and banette takes your mega slot. i mean if i'm missing a tactic that makes him good tell me but other than giving an ally prankster or being a squishy tr/tailwind sweeper i can't see a good move set for him that since he's obligated to run protect.
Like i said i have more than likely got a few Pokemon in the wrong places to start with as i have so far spent around 7-10 hours on this but that means i only got to allocate about 10-15 mins to each mega many of which i have never used in seriously in vgc. If you think a mega could go up or down based on effective it can be run tell me along with the strategy and the reasoning behind it. Short version of the tiers
M:meta picks
1: very strong require consideration in team-building
2: strong picks but may require some help to reach their full potential
3: Need help but if they get set up properly the strengths of these Pokemon can even surpass tier 1 and M
4: Powerful but have flaws that are harder to avoid or they just struggle in the meta with few ways to help mitigate those weaknesses
5: More cons than pros by this point running these Pokemon as megas is not recommended
6: Basically not worth the mega stone too many flaws compared to Pokemon that perform similar roles and almost nothing that lets these guys have their own niche.
