I'm actually using a M Swampert team right now (as I'm sure a lot of forum members know), and I'm actually running 252 HP / 100 Attack / 156 Speed of with an adamant nature. It allows me to out speed timid mega sceptile in the rain, and with base defences of 100/110/110, it can take a couple of hits from other pokemon while still hitting hard, especially with helping hand support.

I have been thinking though, with mega sceptile not really being seen that much, would it be worth taking some EVs out of speed and put them into his defences to make him bulkier? Because even if someone brings a mega sceptile, the chances are if you're using mega Swampert you've got something to deal with grass types

Chances are you can just give M-Swampert more defense or special defense investment depending on what type of attack do you want to live. I highly doubt swampert would want to take any grass attacks so chances are try ev your m-swampert to take hits from either mega kang, landorus-t, sylveon, or any of the most common pokemon in vgc.

I think my wording might have made things a bit confusing. I wouldn't leave Swampert in on a grass attack unless a) I could ko the threat before it attacked or b) I have no other choice but to leave him in.
The point I was trying to make was I have other ways to deal with grass types, so instead of having 156 Speed to out speed timid mega sceptile, I was thinking about taking some out of speed and putting them Into one of his defences (probably physical defense)

I'd absolutely do that tbh :D I would only try to stay above a certain amount of Speed you aim for inside of the Rain ofc :D

Yeah, Rogue is my not-so-little little brother.

I'm basically Ganondorf IRL

Naitre and I have been in the lab and made a trick room team with one. We're currently climbing the showdown ladder quickly and are shooting for top 10 or so.
(we will do a RMT later on for those who are interested)

2HKO'ing every Cresselia/OHKO'ing  every M-Kang/and every time we see a rain team we just click bullet seed and win.

no your not i personally don't like him but he's got huge underrated power i mean 185 base attack you don't even need to invest in it and with a positive nature you'll still have more raw power than a max invested adamant landorus-T.....

admittedly the number of intimidates, will-o-wispers and the existence of gale wings talonflame are too hard for him to deal with + sylveon is also pretty bad for him this year.

Winning a Pokemon battle is not so much about being a step ahead of your opponent but rather being 2 steps behind them

I suppose he needs the right coverage, there are things you can do in order to protect him.

You're right, thats why I brushed him off at first. But as soon as I paired him up in a trick room team while having support such as Heatran it's never a problem.

But that's also another reason on why you don't always bring your mega/favorite pokemon every match. Some times you wont need them/they wont be useful. Other times they'll make you pull a 4-0.
